Morgan Stanley’s Operational Risk Department (ORD) is looking to hire two (2) full-time Associates based in Shanghai, China. This role will provide analysis and documentation support for ORD’s coverage senior team and is an integrated part of global ORD’s data analytics and decision support function.

The selected individual will require working closely with teams at all levels of the organization within ORD, including frequent communication with various stakeholders such as the senior operational risk coverage managers in New York/London/Hong Kong/Tokyo.

Specific responsibilities would include but are not limited to:

• Daily qualitative review of risk data including internal/external incidents and Issues to identify risk themes and data quality issues.

• Producing fact pack and analysis for the senior coverage teams

• Producing fact pack, analysis and supporting documentation for TORs

• Extracting and analyzing various operational risk data, such as incidents, metrics, issues and actions, scenarios, key controls and Risk Control Self Assessments (RCSA)

• Presenting findings and analysis to support senior coverage teams’ decision making process

• Support Deep Dive Analysis and Ad Hoc analysis of current and emerging risks

• Driving market data research and collection from external sources for business environment and peer benchmarking analysis*LI-SC1


• More than 5 years of working experience in international financial institutions or consulting firms

• Bachelor’s degree required; economics, finance, business or another analytical discipline preferred. Master’s degree is a plus

• A solid understanding of operational risk management concepts such as risk assessments, scenario analysis, loss events etc. is required

• A general understand of regulatory capital frameworks, such as Basel 2 and Basel 3. Hands-on experience with RCSA and Scenario Analysis is preferred

• Strong analytical skills and attention to details

• Excellent English communication skills, both verbal and written

• Strong organization skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize; ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines;

• Advanced user of PowerPoint and Excel, VBA skill a plus

• Strong interest in financial services and risk management

• Ability to work in a team environment
