BlackRock Solutions (BRS) supports the investment process through the development, deployment and support of our enterprise investment management platform (Aladdin®), which is utilized by executives, portfolio management, risk management, and operations teams. BRS provides strategic advisory and enterprise investment system services for our clients with portfolios totalling over $17 trillion. Our diverse client base is internal and external. Internally, we provide the technical and analytical support to BlackRock's portfolio managers. Our external coverage includes portfolio managers, pensions, insurance companies, banks, and governments around the world. The BRS business is the natural evolution of our long-standing investment in developing sophisticated and highly integrated analytics and systems for managing money.

The Client Analytics Group (CAG) is part of the Aladdin Business within BlackRock Solutions and is responsible for delivering our financial analytical capabilities on securities and portfolios to both portfolio and risk management teams within our external BRS clients. The Client Analytics Group works with financial modelers and software developers to enhance our risk and analytical capabilities across fixed income, equity, and multi-asset products. They are at the intersection of the portfolio and risk managers who utilize our analytics, the financial modelers/developers who build the analytics and portfolio management tools, and the operations teams that perform the daily analytical processing. The Client Analytics Group must use technical, financial and business insights to best support and address their clients' needs and drive solutions that helps improve the investment decisions and risk exposure.

Job Purpose/Background:

The Client Analytics Group are required to follow the capital markets and industry events closely and understand how those events impact our clients, then implement solutions to fulfil their needs. Each member is tasked with understanding client needs and proactively offering new and comprehensive ways to leverage Aladdin. The team applies technical and analytical knowledge, business insights and outstanding communication/relationship skills to effectively engage and deepen client relationships.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the full capabilities of BlackRock's proprietary analytics to investment and risk professionals through modeling and reporting capabilities to help users understand their security and portfolio level exposures
  • Evolve and maintain the content of the analytical reporting on client portfolios' exposures, risk and performance attribution
  • Test and deploy new models, analytics and reporting to our clients
  • Assist with the creation of models, analytics and reporting for new security types, new products, and new clients in coordination with teams across the firm
  • Provide analytical support on a wide range of portfolio and security types using proprietary analytics and tools
  • Stay current on client risk management techniques and portfolio management styles
  • Advising clients on best practice for various analytical efforts, using our experience with other clients, understand the problem and recommend alternatives, if appropriate
  • Develop close partnerships with clients to build highly effective relationships to understand and solve problems
  • Perform ad-hoc special analysis in response to market events, new business needs or client demands
  • Work with clients to prioritize strategic and tactical analytical projects and discuss our strategic analytics product development plans
  • Assist Business Development team in sales pitch processes by presenting analytical tools and cutting edge functionality
  • Help implement new clients onto the analytical tools within Aladdin and educate them on our proprietary models
  • Assist with the recruiting of interns and graduates as well as the formulation of the training program
  • Work requires the application of technical skills, requiring strong understanding of our technology applications
  • The role will require occasional to frequent travel, primarily within Europe

Knowledge/Experience:

  • Proven financial services industry experience, buy-side or insurance preferred over sell-side
  • Strong interest in financial analytics and technologies, and their application within the investment and risk management process
  • Demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for the asset management and risk management industry

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Language requirements - German (written and spoken) and English (written and spoken)
  • Desire to work closely with internal partners and key clients in a manner that deepens relationships and further demonstrates value of the analytical tools within the Aladdin platform
  • Creative, analytical problem solver who's comfortable with using a wide range of technology
  • Knowledge of databases, SQL, UNIX, VBA , C++, PERL or similar tools, a definite advantage
  • Sets high standards for own performance, willingness to take on additional responsibilities quickly
  • Enjoys a fast-paced, high-intensity environment and multi-tasking
  • Client delivery focused having to balance client priorities and team resources to ensure effective project deliveries to the client satisfaction
  • Ability to leverage technical, business and client insights to drive improvements
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to interface with external clients
