We are offering graduate vacancies in London, Stamford CT and Singapore to start in 2016 as part of our Global Trader Commercial Graduate Scheme. Successful applicants will be employed within in our dynamic trading environments. Graduates will undertake a structured training programme that will offer development into front line trader or other key commercial roles.
Our graduates will undertake key roles, for example in Operations and Risk, as part of an ongoing learning and development process before being assessed for a Trading role. The Glencore oil and gas business operates globally with offices in Singapore and Stamford CT. There may be opportunities for international rotation to other offices as part of the scheme to further enhance the development of skills and experience.

Our operators work alongside our front line traders from the inception of each trade and are responsible for the complete management of logistical and financial elements of each contract. This involves checking contracts, ensuring relevant financial documentation is in place, issuing instructions to our suppliers, voyage/discharge instructions and scheduling liftings and deliveries. As you monitor the progress of each voyage it will be necessary to work closely with the trading, finance and chartering teams in order to maximise the commercial value of each transaction. An operator has a direct financial impact on results of the trading books.
Our risk managers work closely with our front line traders and operators. Risk management involves maintaining physical and derivative trades in our reporting systems, assessing the accuracy and validity of mark-to-market, reporting positions and profit and loss, providing analysis where necessary and monitoring pricing exposure, ensuring that hedging is executed in line with our trading teams’ requirements. Accuracy, confidence and exceptional analytical skills are key attributes in this area of our business.
Our trading analysts work directly with our traders to utilise relevant global fundamental market supply and demand factors to evaluate and report a commodities near term, medium term and future value across the barrel. Confidence to admit and learn from errors, self-discipline, keeping ahead of detailed market changes, and strategic global thinking are important attributes to a good analyst. In this role, it is necessary to consistently meet with traders, ship trackers and IT to develop analytical tools and deliver more value to the business. A good analyst is detailed in work and quick to the point in communication.
