Our client is an expanding Private Banking Group in Asia who are looking to add an AVP level Operational Risk Manager in their Hong Kong office.


  • Develop in-depth understanding of the business and operational risks within the coverage areas, perform deep dives into material operational risk events
  • Implement operational risk assessment processes and governance activities, develop control measures, carry out relevant gap analysis, assessments and control monitoring
  • Analyze risk metrics and data to identify early risk trends and escalate to management for determination of appropriate actions
  • Support risk & control related projects, initiatives, policies & procedures development and system enhancement
  • Work with various business partners to facilitate completion of business risk assessments and targeted operational risk assessment projects
  • Assist in reporting to management board/committees and regulators
  • Provide support, education and training to staff in building risk awareness within the organization

The Successful Candidate:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or related discipline
  • At least 4-5 years of relevant experience in audit, internal control or operational risk management in the private banking industry
  • Good awareness of key risks in private banking operations, system access right entitlement, outsourcing, record retention, etc
  • Familiarity with the Hong Kong regulatory requirements (e.g. HKMA Supervisory Policy Manuals) and risk related reporting
  • Sound IT and information security knowledge
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, analytical thinking, with effective communication skills
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management, work independently and deal with ambiguity well
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication skills in English and Chinese languages
