Financial Crime Compliance aligns current activities within Global Risk and helps to build these into a more integrated framework to conduct Customer Due Diligence which enables HSBC to manage financial crime risk more effectively. It builds stronger controls to improve the way Financial Crime Compliance risks are managed in order to spot gaps as well as trends so that the team can take action. It proactively gathers and analyses financial intelligence in a smart way so that suspicious transactions, activities or connections can be identified and we can adequately protect our customers from the threat of financial crime.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Senior Anti money laundering Investigation Quality Assurance Manager.

Principal responsibilities

  • Establish robust Quality Assurance standards and quality focused culture across Global Anti money laundering investigations
  • To lead the definition and deployment of the Anti money laundering investigations Quality Assurance model, preserving its independence from operations and ensuring a responsive structure to provide constructive and consistent feedback mentoring to investigators
  • Ensure full adherence to the Global Standard Procedures taking into consideration where appropriate, any country jurisdictional variances and dispensations through diligent QA management across Anti money laundering investigations globally. This will include robust error defect analysis cost and quality based on the standard quality monitoring methodology and risk control assessment.
  • Identify Operational Performance Improvement opportunities and work with key stakeholders to realize such opportunities.
  • Feedback into the creation amendment of Policies and Procedures and the creation delivery of appropriate training refresher programmes with the global training utility to improve process and service quality.
  • Review, question and engage with other financial crime compliance and Regulatory Compliance operations stakeholders to facilitate the resolution of differences in productivity Management Information across locations globally.
  • Maintain and update QA standards as necessary, following Group Policy and procedures with regard to managing procedural, documentary and operational change.
  • Provide staff career development opportunities with the objective of enhancing domain knowledge, technical skills and personal effectiveness capabilities.
  • Establish effective relationships with the Global Anti money laundering investigations teams.
  • Assess and advise on QA aspects of process and system change requests ensuring a robust QA change management governance structure exists within Anti money laundering investigations that provides sufficient consultation and discussion with stakeholders
  • Represent Anti money laundering investigations QA in any relevant process working groups as appropriate and provide guidance and advice with regard to change delivery, offshoring, platform adoption, sharing best practices.
  • Provide leadership to the regional country Anti money laundering investigations QA teams to ensure we deliver on our mandate
  • Ensure adequate development and training is provided to the Anti money laundering investigations teams to develop skills and competencies.
  • Be sensitive to cross cultural nuances and exhibit maturity and tolerance in managing the same
  • Ensure employees adhere to the established operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies, especially given the regulatory implications associated with Anti money laundering operations and investigations.
  • Ensure all actions take account of the likelihood of operational risk occurring and address any areas of concern in conjunction with operations management and or the appropriate department.
  • Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators

  • Extensive experience in Operations Management including strong operational control capabilities, sound knowledge of QA and Production Management tools for example ETCS, Planning and Project management skills and a proven track record in delivery.
  • Previous Audit Assurance experience would be desirable
  • Certification in quality assurance control management six sigma would be desirable
  • Exposure to managing global transformation projects would be an added advantage
  • Ability to maintain control, direction and motivation in an ever changing environment
  • Ability to analyse large amounts of data efficiently, draw conclusions on what the data means and actions required
  • Highly effective in working with all levels of management and staff.
  • Strong relationship management skills with the ability to manage and engage multiple stakeholders, meet their expectations, negotiate in situations of conflicting interests and influence key decision makers in a positive manner
  • Strong communication, presentation and influencing skills both verbal and written
  • Operates effectively across cultures and in multi cultural diverse work environments
The chosen candidate for this role will be required to undergo enhanced vetting.
