Financial Crime Compliance aligns current activities within Global Risk and helps to build these into a more integrated framework to conduct Customer Due Diligence which enables HSBC to manage financial crime risk more effectively. It builds stronger controls to improve the way Financial Crime Compliance risks are managed in order to spot gaps as well as trends so that the team can take action. It proactively gathers and analyses financial intelligence in a smart way so that suspicious transactions, activities or connections can be identified and we can adequately protect our customers from the threat of financial crime.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Senior Global Banking and Markets Manager.

Principal responsibilities

  • Primarily to support the Head of Global Banking and Markets, Financial Crime Compliance Asia Pacific to maintain an effective anti-money laundering control framework and discharge the Financial Crime Compliance responsibilities for Global Banking and Markets to ensure compliance with all relevant external laws and regulations, internal codes and policies and good market practices relating to anti money laundering and Sanctions in respect of the Correspondent Banking business.
  • The individual in this position is expected to advise the business and Financial Crime Compliance colleagues on fulfilling their responsibilities in complying with the spirit and letter of all anti money laundering and related regulatory requirements and related to the bank's requirements, as established by Group Compliance focused on a Correspondent Banking perspective.
  • Additional responsibilities include the provision of advice on Financial Crime Compliance issues and liaison with senior line and local management in planning how Financial Crime Compliance Correspondent Banking should be managed, operate and function in order to serve management and business needs.
  • The primary accountability is implemented by the need to conduct client visits and calls in order to determine the effectiveness and performance of compliance activities across the region, which will involve Financial Crime Compliance related monitoring, reporting and certification, fostering a compliance culture and optimizing relations with regulators.
  • The role needs to liaise with and support the country Financial Crime Compliance global banking and markets and other key stakeholders including regulatory compliance, legal, risks, onboarding functions, peer leads and other global banking and markets work stream to ensure processes are coordinated and implementation risks and issues are considered and addressed.
  • Proactively identify financial crime risk within the correspondent banking client portfolio and potential impact on the bank.
  • Development and continuous review for appropriateness of control framework to monitor financial crime developments impacting global banking and markets in region
  • Implement global standards and strategic policies in region to ensure global banking and markets' exposure to current risks and emerging arising risk is managed appropriately, in a commercially focused and practical manner focusing on correspondent banking
  • Resolve all identified issues promptly, and escalate concerns and proactively identify financial crime risk within the correspondent banking client portfolio and potential impact on the bank.


Qualifications
Requirements
  • A university degree, preferably audit or with some legal experience plus and experience in a financial services group operation with particular experience on money laundering and sanctions and compliance and audit, risk management or controls or external regulations.
  • Experience with Correspondent Banking and Global Banking and Markets related businesses and knowledge of payments related and transaction banking services.
  • Good interpersonal skills are essential as the jobholder will have to work in coordination with executives at all levels including the capacity to articulate the case for risk management and policy.
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Ability to develop practical, cost effective solutions to complex issues.
  • Experience with dealing with regulatory matters and confident interaction with Regulators.
  • Experience with interpreting and analysing a large volume of information and data and provide succinct summary for management.
  • Experience with working within a matrixed environment preferred
