The Data Protection Officer will provide consultancy, monitoring and advisory services working in partnership with the other Oversight functions, such as Investment Compliance, Risk, Investigations & Intelligence and Internal Audit.
The department's role is to provide an excellent compliance service, promoting a strong compliance culture and enhancing the effectiveness, long-term profitability and reputation through pro-active management of regulatory and reputation risk, undertaken in partnership with the business, and in the best interests of investors and customers.
Responsibilities Include Where applicable, ensuring that the personal information validly required for business and/or employee administration purposes is appropriately described in each country's notification process. This can include checking, reviewing and amending notifications to the relevant Data Protection Authority (DPA) as required. Overseeing the arrangements for the management of Personal information in their country ensuring that those arrangements are reasonably designed so as to comply with the principles set out in this Framework and local regulation. Supplying technical support, advice and guidance to the business, and advising on local management and staff on their data protection obligations and responsibilities. Managing the relationship with the relevant Data Protection Authorities/Regulators as required Developing and maintaining an ongoing awareness programme to raise staff awareness of the standards required by this Framework and providing training of staff Oversight of the business unit level establishment and maintenance of an Information Asset Register Dealing with data protection related queries and complaints from data subjects. Independent oversight of the business' compliance with the Framework requirements. Monitoring and interpreting local regulatory developments and providing updates to Senior Management and Business Compliance. Providing regular data protection updates to local Senior Management and Business Compliance. Tracking business actions to facilitate the amendment of any incorrect or inaccurate information as soon as such discrepancies are identified. Oversee completion of Privacy Impact Assessments and providing advice and guidance as appropriate
A degree or masters degree in finance preferably with relevant compliance certifications
7-10 years of experience in a similar role with a focus on data protection
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with colleagues in multiple locations
Excellent knowledge of current and upcoming regulation
Advanced Leadership and influencing skills
Fluent English, French or German would be an advantage
