About Group Reporting in Shell
Within the Group Controllers organisation, Group Reporting is responsible for the external and internal reporting and analysis of Shell’s global financial results. This includes setting appropriate accounting policies, supporting the Shell planning process and being involved in relevant external developments from standard-setters (mainly the IASB), regulators and governments.

The Group Reporting department consists of a Business Accounting & Analysis team, a Reporting team, the Accounting Policies R&D team and a supporting IT team. The Global Accounting Policy Advisor role falls under the Accounting Policies R&D team. The Accounting Policies R&D team consists of two people and is responsible for interpreting and communicating accounting developments internally, participating in representation activity externally, supporting implementation of changes and providing internal guidance on requirements to help support a culture of accurate reporting and transparent disclosure across Shell.

What will you do?
As part of the Accounting Policies R&D team your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and contribute to Shell’s position on relevant external developments
  • Provide IFRS advice to other members of Group Reporting on an ad-hoc basis
  • Review Group Accounting papers which document accounting positions adopted by Shell
  • Maintain the Group Financial Reporting Manual (GFRM), which documents Shell’s accounting policies for Group-wide use
  • Assist in delivering IFRS training and accounting updates within Shell
  • Being a member of the working group for the implementation of new accounting standards, such as IFRS 9 and IFRS 16
  • Assist in the preparation process for Shell’s Consolidated Financial Statements and 20F


Requirements

What we need from you:

  • The ideal candidate has a strong educational background in Finance (Masters in Finance) and is a qualified accountant (RA, ACCA or equivalent) with excellent technical IFRS expertise
  • At least 5 to 10 years work experience in an international audit firm including an assignment in the technical department preferably followed by a similar position in a large international company
  • Sound knowledge of IFRS, a keen interest in IFRS developments and strong skills to articulate to others
  • Industry knowledge relevant to Shell and its reporting is preferred
  • Confident and self-motivated with great interpersonal communication skills in order to build trust
  • A pragmatic working style that provides a good balance with technical IFRS guidance
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines within a diverse team
