Financial Crime Compliance aligns current activities within Global Risk and helps to build these into a more integrated framework to conduct Customer Due Diligence which enables HSBC to manage financial crime risk more effectively. It builds stronger controls to improve the way Financial Crime Compliance risks are managed in order to spot gaps as well as trends so that the team can take action. It proactively gathers and analyses financial intelligence in a smart way so that suspicious transactions, activities or connections can be identified and we can adequately protect our customers from the threat of financial crime.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Critical Risk Control Analyst.

Principal responsibilities

  • Serving as support within the fusion process of information obtained from proactive and reactive research conducted by the Critical Risk Control team. In this role, the incumbent is responsible for provide support to the Critical Risk Control team in the analysis and reviews of the financial crime risk control framework.
  • The role holder is expected to provide research findings, drawing upon specific expertise in the analysis of data and other materials that support the findings of Critical Risk Control reports.
  • The role holder will also provide input to aid ongoing development of the processes conducted within Critical Risk Control for interfacing with multiple interlocutors across business lines and functions to meet team objectives.
  • The provision of timely and reliable research on potential regulatory issues which require further review and mitigation, and providing reports and related Management Information to senior management at the country, region or Global level.
  • Point of accountability for provision of research component of Critical Risk Control's enquiries.
  • Provide support to the Critical Risk Control team within the Region, in conducting complex, deep dive reviews through analysis and report production.
  • Assist in the acquisition of quality information and data to support the Critical Risk Control team in the conduct of reviews, preparation of Management Information and production of high level reports and briefings, using English and Spanish language material, where appropriate.

  • Outstanding research and problem solving skills
  • Strong conceptual skills in business models, organizational design, and analytical skills in business performance, market & competitive dynamics
  • Demonstrable aptitude for researching complex, multi-faceted banking relationships
  • Strong understanding of internal compliance requirements
  • Anti-Money Laundering certification from International Compliance Association or Association of Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist or equivalent is required. Candidates who are pursuing and, or intend to pursue will be considered.
  • Experience in compilation of reports and, or Suspicious Activity Reports reporting experience
  • Working knowledge of Anti Money Laundering within the financial services industry
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Good communicator with strong inter personal skills. Experience of sharing information in a clear concise manner.
