Head of Business Risk Management - Global Risk

Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively manages a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, financial crime and regulatory compliance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Senior Vice President, Business Management.

Principal responsibilities

      • Handle various governance committees which Risk is involved in to facilitate the appreciation of various aspects of risks for forward looking enterprise risk management.
      • Manage the Management Information and regulatory reporting, primarily for Wholesale credit and Private Bank credit, to facilitate management decision and reporting needs.
      • Manage the Risk Appetite Statement Framework and the Risk Appetite Statement process to assist senior management to monitor the different aspects of risks
      • Manage and lead the Stress testing requirements, including regulatory and internal expectation.
      • Provide leadership to the Risk Business Management team with more than 10 staff across multiple disciplines.
      • Manage the Annual Operating Plan process for Risk
      • Identify emerging risk issues and mitigating strategies via various risk committees
      • Ensure that robust processes are in place to work with Finance and other departments on regulatory reporting returns and matters pertaining thereto.
      • Represent Risks in various Bankwide initiatives, project working groups and committees



Qualifications
Requirements
  • Strong leadership skills and communication skills, and experience in leading a sizeable team.
  • Exposure to demanding operational environments to gain insight into effective risk management applications
  • Working across all levels of the organisation to understand cross functional linkages and interdependencies, as well as the implications of risk at both a strategic level and at the business unit level.
  • Good knowledge of Business and related Risk Management, particularly in relation to developments of the management discipline and regulatory impacts in this area.
  • Good understanding of other areas of risk, such as Retail, Market, Operational, Legal
  • Detailed understanding of HSBC overall business dynamics.
  • Has developed a high level of professional competence which helps to determine solutions around appropriate risk measures, risk processes, risk monitoring and management.
