The Commercial Due Diligence team is seeking to hire experienced professionals to join our growing team. The nature of our work varies, but chances are your engagement will involve some or all of the following topics: assessment of market condition, understanding key value drivers, review of competitive landscape, analysis of company performance, and development of strategic options. You will have chance to work across a wide array of different sectors including business services, consumer, manufacturing, TMT, FS etc.
 
The names of our clients would come as no surprise to you: they are the leading players in their sectors across the world, including private equity houses, corporates and banks. They will generally need our support during high profile M&A processes (both buy-side and sell-side) or a restructuring situation.

Role description

The Assistant Manager/Manager role includes the following activities:

  • Quickly developing an understanding of the client and the underlying drivers of the business and markets
  • Carrying out high quality research, interviews and analysis to support both projects and business development opportunities
  • Interpretation and analysis of information memoranda, business plans, historical financial information and publicly available information
  • Engaging with the target’s senior management to understand key risks, opportunities and the drivers of value in the business plan
  • Evaluation of external and internal factors impacting the target’s business plan
  • Developing your consulting skills in strategic and structured thinking
  • Developing your expertise in working with cross functional teams across Deloitte

Location

You will be based in a Deloitte office, however this is a projects based role and you will be required to be based at client site when needed. Our clients are varied, and vary in industry and location. Whilst many clients are London based, we do work with clients and targets across the UK and globally.

Hours

This is a permanent role with a degree of travel and work at client site. However we are open to discussing both formal and informal flexible working arrangements that allow for the best outcomes for our people and our clients. Responsibilities

  • Carrying out high quality research, interviews and analysis to support both projects and business development opportunities
  • Delivering/managing small to mid-sized projects or segments of projects of mid to large scale commercial due diligence assignments including hypothesis generation, research, report writing and presentation of results
  • Producing quality deliverables (usually detailed written reports) within agreed timescales and brief the Partner/Director accordingly. On larger deals this will involve responsibility for the production of report sections together with a wider team (e.g. Financial DD, Operations DD, Consulting, Tax, etc.)
  • Supporting various marketing initiatives and practice development activities (e.g. pitch / proposal documents development, client presentations, key client account management, industry, geography, and product programmes)
  • Reviewing and prepare documentation including engagement letters and demonstrate transaction services risk management awareness
  • Managing and working within diverse teams within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution

Requirements

We are looking for people who enjoy addressing business problems in an analytical manner, who have the patience to structure decision making, and who strive to develop pragmatic recommendations, tempered by experience.

Successful applicants will be/have:

  • Prior relevant commercial due diligence or strategy consulting (M&A transaction related context is preferred) experience;
  • Strong commercial acumen;
  • Developed their skills in a top management consultancy or a corporate environment;
  • Excellent academics with a strong first degree or equivalent qualification as a minimum;
  • Structured thinking, with strong analytical and business diagnostic skills;
  • Comfortable working in a deal environment with senior management and other key stakeholders;
  • Enthusiastic, positive professional attitude and enjoys being part of the wider team;
  • Able to communicate and explain complex ideas concisely, on paper and verbally;
  • Sector knowledge preferable, but not essential;
  • Flexibility for international travel where required.
