Commercial Finance Analyst - 12 month FTC

You will be partnering with the business, the Commercial Finance Analyst should be an integral part of the development of business strategy and commercial decision making. This includes providing the business with relevant analysis to help appraise the performance on a geographic or distribution channel view. As well as providing support on key decisions, the role should provide independent perspective and challenge on commercial initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

* Assist in the transition to the new Finance Operating Model, which has resulted in creation of separate Business Partnering and FP&A teams
* Support the distribution teams servicing the UK professional client distribution (referred to simply as 'UK' further down in this document), this is to cover both Retail and Institutional clients
* Assist in developing consistent channel reporting across the Distribution & Marketing Finance team
* Present impactful financial analysis on the UK channels in order to monitor financial performance, inform decision making and challenge stakeholders where appropriate
* Work with Fixed Income product business partners, to assist the Distribution & Marketing Finance Business Partner in understanding developments on this product set and implications for Retail and Institutional distribution
* Assist in development of client financial reporting, this is to cover both key external clients and the internal book of business;
* Work with FP&A team to develop succinct financial dashboard MI that provides insight into M&G financials from a geographic or distribution channel perspective
* Assist with the approval process for client specific terms on both pooled and segregated mandates;
* Build a strong understanding of the UK channels and the competitive landscape in which they operate, especially pricing trends and the potential impact on M&G's income
* Ensure that stakeholders receive on going Finance support and input into strategic business initiatives, this includes support for any relevant distribution expansion
* Ensure that headcount and cost budgets are well understood and managed
* Develop a deep understanding of drivers and component parts of the UK business costs, providing support in seeking senior manager approval for allocation of costs to this area
* Build understanding of annual Marketing plans and wider strategy impacting the UK channels, build constructive relationship with relevant Marketing managers
* Work closely with the Income Finance team providing support on the rebate payments approval process
* Work with other parts of Finance to ensure a positive and collaborative approach within the department and clarity for our business stakeholders

What are we looking for:

You should have experience of Financial business partnering, strong stakeholder management, planning and organisation skills along with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and able to liaise effectively and build relationships with personnel at all levels. You will possess strong analytical skills, be able to question and understand complex financial data, and experience in presenting relevant analysis in a succinct manner and appropriate format along with strong spreadsheet and financial modelling skills. Experience with Hyperion management Accounting and MI System and/or SUN General Ledger (desirable) and working within the asset management industry are desirable.
