As the Lawyer - FM Products you will have a role that matters, providing insightful, high quality output, advice and guidance tailored to a range of stakeholder needs and to the Legal Community. You will be a member of the Traded Products Legal Team within Commercial Banking Legal operating as a functional specialist in respect of financial markets products and product-level terms and conditions. This will also include advising in relation to the various channels through which these products are provided to clients such as via coverage teams and online/digital.
Your key accountabilities will include acting as a source of professional expertise; providing professional advice as a trusted advisor to stakeholders and assisting with the development of policy and procedures.
You will provide Legal technical input to support delivery of projects, product developments (including maintenance and withdrawal) and transactions with a significant impact across the Group, Commercial Banking or the Financial Markets Business Unit and may manage appropriate resource to meet business needs.
You will positively influence the appropriate use of Legal Panel arrangements by supported/own area, in particular the selection, instruction and supervision of panel law firms and managing expectations and you will build and maintain external and internal network and relationships to provide appropriate professional advice to achieve the Group's objectives, including representation on industry forums.
You will positively influence others by demonstrating core LBG values and behaviours and where appropriate, manage, develop and motivate colleagues to support a high performing team and you will provide advice and guidance to business areas on Legal Risk Management using the relevant risk management policy framework.
Managing self in the context of relevant risk policies and frameworks is key, as you will contribute to reporting and escalation of legal or governance issues within own / supported area, inputting to recommended solutions as required.
You will have the opportunity to support agreed change projects to deliver continuous improvement and you will need to be comfortable challenging & influencing a range of stakeholders.
There is the potential that you will be able to deputise for colleagues at the Senior Manager level and you may have the opportunity to deal with complex projects, products & transactions in terms of scale, scope and specialism. In addition, you may lead on specific projects or reviews within their area of specialism whilst collaborating with the other key legal areas/disciplines within the Traded Products Legal team.
To be successful in the role you will have a good appreciation of the regulatory framework applying to FM products for all client segments and a working knowledge of the key financial markets regulations, e.g. EMIR / Dodd/Frank and Benchmarks
