Our client, a top tier global commodity merchant, is seeking to hire a recent graduate, or junior analyst, onto its distillates trading desk in London to work as a ship-tracker. The role will be responsible for tracking all ships carrying diesel, gasoil and jet fuel across all key shipping routes as identified by the team, and will contribute to the trading desk’s global distillate supply and demand analysis.

The ideal candidate will have an analytical or research based background, either from academia or from prior work experience. A strong understanding of Python and VBA programming languages is essential, whilst knowledge of SQL databases and Tableau would be advantageous. Prior experience of the oil markets is not required, but the ability to research and analyse data, and then present that information in a clear and concise manner, is essential.

This is a fantastic entry level position for a recent graduate, or someone with one to two years’ work experience, to join a renowned trading company and gain in-depth knowledge and experience of the oil markets.
