Our client, a global investment bank based in the City of London, are looking for a strategic and project focused compliance professional to support the global head of their monitoring and controls testing team.

Our client, a global investment bank based in the City of London, are looking for a strategic and project focused compliance professional to support the global head of their monitoring and controls testing team. This individual will be fully dedicated to supporting the development of the testing strategy and direction of compliance monitoring activities globally. This role will demand regular interaction with global monitoring staff and senior stakeholders within compliance and the business. This is a role where the ability to influence and engage with senior stakeholders is of paramount importance, alongside demonstrating strong leadership ability as well as the confidence to challenge where required.

Responsibilities:

  • Key point of contact for all stakeholders including monitoring staff, compliance management, other compliance functions, business management, group audit and regulators
  • Supporting the annual monitoring planning processes to ensure that all necessary testing coverage is identified and documented.  Ensuring that resource implications of the testing plans are factored into the annual Compliance budget process
  • Provide training and guidance to monitoring staff on the requirements of the policy and key operating procedures
  • Manage the production of regular MI for the monitoring function
  • Monitor KRIs and KPIs relating to the monitoring function and ensure any issues are escalated to the global head of monitoring and testing
  • Work with IT functions and vendors to support the development and maintenance of monitoring systems, including the development of functional specifications
  • Organise and manage key monitoring governance forums
  • Take the lead on monitoring projects and act as monitoring representative on projects run by other functions

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience of working in a compliance or risk and control function, preferably within an Investment Bank 
  • Understanding of compliance risks and testing requirements
  • Experience of building and managing relationships with senior stakeholders, and an ability to influence senior stakeholders and colleagues
  • Ability to generate innovative ideas and challenge the status quo
  • Track record of delivering large, complex change projects/programmes in an investment banking environment
  • Proven experience in problem solving, business and data analysis and working to tight deadlines whilst achieving good quality outputs
  • Structured and organised approach, demonstrating a high level of diligence and attention to detail – ability to ensure high quality and consistency in the deliverables produced
