BlackRock Equity Portfolio Analytics Product Specialist, VP

The Portfolio Analytics Group (PAG) creates and delivers analytical capabilities to help the firm and our clients understand and manage their investments and risk. Leveraging Aladdin, the firm's core operating platform for risk and return analytics, the group provides solutions to:

  • Help portfolio managers make informed investment decisions through portfolio construction tools
  • Enable risk management teams to ensure portfolios are managed according to client objectives
  • Enable Client teams to have productive engagements around the portfolios we manage on behalf of clients
PAG also conducts insightful analyses in response to new clients, new products and changing markets.

We are seeking a new team member to create and deliver solutions for BlackRock investment and client teams by driving projects involving cross-functional teams. This position requires strong knowledge of financial markets, deep understanding of investment processes spanning different asset classes as well as proven experience leveraging technology to drive data and analytic solutions.

Responsibilities:
  • Formulate solutions to meet the needs of investment and/or client-facing teams
  • Provide on-going training of new and existing features of our portfolio analytics offering with practical applications and case studies
  • Entrepreneurial drive to create innovative portfolio analytic solutions in performing relevant and timely analyses that provide clients with additional insight based on a thorough understanding of portfolio styles, market events, and market trends
  • Derive meaningful insights and metrics to measure the use and impact of portfolio analytics to refine and define standards
  • Serve as a resource to client, investment, operation and technology teams to explain analytic capabilities with clear, timely and thorough answers helping to clarify the more complex client questions or pinpoint problems that may require in-depth platform knowledge
  • Support internal and external client analytic teams to insure that resource intensive efforts are solving exact client problems with complete and ideal scalable solutions
  • Facilitate the design, execution, and testing of portfolio analytics through Aladdin tools with clear specifications to developers and financial modelers in continued efforts to broaden equity, fund, alternative, and fixed income analytics
  • Communicate to senior management and key project stakeholders the dates, issues, risks and status of projects

Qualifications:
  • At least 4-6 years of related work experience in the financial industry with product knowledge of institutional portfolio mandates and various investment styles
  • Team player able to effectively manage the expectations of a diverse and demanding client base
  • Ability to think strategically, collaborate productively, and problem-solve effectively
  • Attention to detail, solid organizational skills, strong work ethic and ability to prioritize multiple demands working collaboratively with cross disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated project management skills defining scope of analytical solutions, resourcing with strict timelines, executing test procedures and managing to client deliverables based on loosely defined business requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to effectively deliver messages in meetings and in writing distilling complex information to diverse technical or non-technical audiences
  • Familiarity with financial applications, namely Aladdin, Eikon, FactSet, Morningstar, Point, and/or Bloomberg
  • Comfort working on Unix/Linux systems using Python and scripting languages with SQL relational databases
  • Bachelor's / Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Operations Research, or other quantitative discipline; CFA is a plus
