MFE Fall Quantitative Research Intern

Location: San Francisco, CA, USA

  • Applying urban economic theory and spatial modeling technique to analyze geographic/demographic and financial data
  • Estimating statistical relationships between locational attributes and specific spatial patterns in various metropolitan areas
  • Conducting complex theoretical and empirical research on measurements of investment/credit risk in commercial real estate and other related financial assets
  • Present research findings to technical and non-technical audiences internally


You will be part of the Commercial Real Estate Team in Research

  • Master's or Ph.D. in demography, geography, population research, real estate, regional studies, transportation, urban planning, or a closely related field
  • Extensive experience with large datasets especially related to geographic information
  • Expert-level proficiency with spatial analysis and GIS tools such as ArcGIS
  • Proficiency with statistical analysis and programming tools such as R, SAS, or Matlab
  • Knowledge in economic and/or financial modeling is a plus
  • Willingness to learn advanced quantitative methods in real estate and finance
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills
