VP, Legal Billing Unit- Finance Operations

The JPMorgan Chase ("JPMC") Legal Billing Unit ("LBU") is responsible for the payment of Outside Counsel legal services invoices and litigation settlements. The Vice President, Finance Operations position directs the Global LBU day-to-day operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop team of Associates/Analysts
  • Execute documented processes and identify process improvements
  • Assess risk and execute/enhance controls
  • Resolve and/or escalate issues raised by Outside Counsel or JPMC Legal department in a timely manner
  • Test & implement system upgrades and recommend technology enhancements
  • Train internal users
  • Support expansion to new countries and enable global consistency (people, process, systems)
  • Communicate effectively with law firm counterparts and JPMC attorneys
  • Collect and analyze performance metrics
  • Maintain accurate and complete records for Audit purposes


Qualifications
The desired candidate will have successfully led an operations team, preferably within a law firm or large corporate legal department. The candidate will have demonstrated consistent and exceptional team leadership and the ability to continuously improve operational processes and controls. The candidate should have a proven track record of meeting deadlines, prioritizing deliverables, showing initiative, thinking critically and strategically and clearly communicating with executives.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Preference for 3+ years of experience working in a law firm or a large corporate legal department with familiarity of law firm billing practices
  • Minimum 3-5 years leading an operations team of 3-10
  • Demonstrating substantial initiative, ownership, energy, confidence and competence in managing operations with limited supervision
  • Global experience preferred
  • Significant experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Business Objects and SAP. Preference for experience with legal billing systems such as AIMS, Passport, etc.
