BlackRock's Global Compliance Department protects BlackRock's reputation and provides advice to the business focused on ensuring the protection of our client's best interests. The department is a dynamic environment with the team focused on understanding evolving business strategy, challenging and advising on the impact of regulation in our business, with the objective of:

•Actively participating in business decisions to champion our clients' interests and assist the business in translating Compliance into their daily work and decision making;
•Putting client interests at the centre of everything we do;
•Cultivating and enhancing BlackRock's compliance culture;
•Providing thought leadership on the impact and implementation of regulation to our business and to the market; and
•Developing and fostering excellence within the Compliance team.

Job Purpose:

The firm is seeking an individual to be part of the Americas Financial Crime Team based in New York. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate extensive knowledge of, and experience in dealing with, financial crime issues, including AML, sanctions, anti-bribery and corruption and fraud.

Key Responsibilities:

•Support the investment and trading teams from a financial crime perspective, particularly, in relation to understanding potential exposure to sanctions and bribery and corruption risks in the underlying investments
•Support the Alternatives businesses (including hedge fund strategies, funds of funds, real estate, private equity, alternative solutions, renewable power and infrastructure debt) under the guidance of a more senior member of the team.
•Ownership of the third party screening solution from a Financial Crime team perspective, including having oversight of the screening filters.
•Support other team members as appropriate, including producing key metrics, audit and regulatory requests, enhanced due diligence and transaction surveillance reviews.


•The successful candidate should have 5-7+ years of experience in Financial Crime areas at other financial institutions, ideally with a 'buy-side' asset manager.
•Knowledge of AML compliance; including the U.S. Bank Secrecy Act, the USA PATRIOT Act, OFAC requirements and understanding of bribery and corruption and fraud risks would be beneficial.
•Knowledge of some investment products and an understanding of the trading environment.
•Expertise in Bridger and its screening filters to provide recommendations concerning filtering effectiveness and efficiency and perform User Acceptance Testing as needed.
•Excellent communication, judgment and business partnership skills.
•Able to work independently and yet still be team-oriented.
•Proactive, self motivated and well organized.
