Our Team
Valuation Control Group (VCG) is an independent group within finance whose primary responsibility is to ensure that the firm's assets are fairly valued. The group develops and maintains the independent pricing methodologies and valuation standards for the firm. VCG works closely with the trading desks, market risk and product control teams in order to ensure a complete understanding of the business. Key stakeholders include senior finance management, front office business heads and firm regulators.

Job Description:

  • Product coverage primarily includes Agency MBS, RMBS, ABS and CMBS as well as residential and commercial whole loans
  • Possess an advanced understanding of valuation risks and market drivers in the structured product space across asset classes
  • Ability to communicate valuation results directly to senior MD's in the front office as well as to senior finance management
  • Lead the independent price verification/benchmark processes for SPG coverage, including the calculation of valuation adjustments
  • Review third party valuations based on independent benchmarking to traded comparables and bond level DCF using Intex and Bloomberg
  • Analyze large data sets in order to decipher market trends and glean insight on collateral performance / security pricing
  • Knowledge of the securitized product market, bond level analysis and the evolving regulatory environment
  • Fundamental understanding of fair value leveling guidelines and fair value financial disclosures
  • Challenge internal / external valuations and develop new pricing methodologies

  • Knowledge of fixed income products
  • Specific background in mortgage and/or asset-backed securities is a plus
  • Ability to understand and explain complex products and concepts
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Propensity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and efficiently
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
  • Experience with Bloomberg and Intex as well as a history of working with discounted cash flows and security analysis a plus
  • Bachelor's degree in either Finance/Economics. MBA a plus
