Department Description:
North America Legal Entity Risk Reporting (NA LERR) is responsible for providing data and analytical reporting to regional and local Chief Risk Officers (CRO), Senior Management and regulators as well as business stakeholders and contacts. The requirement to manage the firm's risk at a legal entity level is key from a regulatory perspective and a significant amount of focus and weight is placed on the information published. Emphasis is placed on identifying and driving initiatives to improve reporting capabilities, partnering with senior management to advance reporting and developing ability to provide in-depth analyses to senior risk managers.

Legal entity risk reports comprise risk across several risk stripes (e.g. Market, Credit, Liquidity, Country, Operational, Legal, Technological, etc) at the legal entity level. NA LERR is responsible for producing the market and credit risk stripe data and aggregating data across all risk stripes to produce comprehensive legal entity reports. The team is responsible for working with Senior Management to develop reporting that meets SEC, FINRA, FRB, CFTC (Swap Dealer and Futures Commission Merchant), OCC and other regulatory reporting requirements. Additionally, the team produces risk reports for internal risk management purposes.

There is a critical need to focus on ensuring risk reporting is comprehensive, timely, and accurate so that all levels of risk management can use it to understand and manage the business in a timely and effective manner.

Roles and Responsibilities:
The candidate will be based in New York and report to the head of NA MRR (Market Risk Reporting). The candidate will manage the North America Legal Entity Market Risk Reporting team (a subset of NA LERR) as well as managing the Mortgage Banking, Asset Management and Structural Interest Rate market risk reporting teams (MB/AM/SIRR).

Legal Entity team:
Responsibilities include monitoring and reporting legal entity market risk (daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly deliverables), implementing and monitoring legal entity market risk limits, partnering with Senior Risk Management to advance existing reporting and develop new reporting as needed. The NA LERR Market Risk Reporting lead will also be the Legal Entity Risk Reporting Relationship Manager for certain Material Legal Entities. In this capacity, the lead is responsible for facing-off with Senior CROs to review legal entity risk reports on a monthly and quarterly basis as well as being deeply involved in the monthly regulatory review of risk meetings. The NA LERR Market Risk Reporting lead will be responsible for maintaining excellent reporting controls and implementing improvements as needed.

MB/AM/SIRR team:
Responsibilities include monitoring and reporting market risk (daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly deliverables) for these lines of business, implementing and monitoring market risk limits, maintaining close partnerships with market risk coverage and product control team leads and to advance existing reporting and develop new reporting as needed. The role requires strong skills in maintaining reporting controls and implementing improvements as needed.

Responsibilities, skills, specific duties and essential function:

  • Establish and/or maintain processes to provide accurate legal entity market risk reporting in support of internal risk governance and regulatory requirements.
  • Accountable for all NA Legal Entity market risk reports / packs that are submitted to and/or reviewed with Senior Management, Risk Committees, CROs and regulators.
  • Establish and maintain best practices and procedures around monitoring and reporting of market risk.
  • Provide a reasonableness review of market risk information contained in reporting.
  • Advance existing and develop new reports to comply with changing regulations, and coordinate/lead implementation with Market Risk, Finance, Technology, Operations and other functions as needed.
  • Ensure any risk breaches are escalated and controlled according to local risk policies.
  • Participate in the Risk Committee meetings to cover changes in and understanding of risk profiles and any risk issues arising.
  • Lead and develop team of junior analysts and associates.
  • Complete ad-hoc projects related to Legal Entity reporting.

  • 5+ years of Market Risk Reporting or Risk Management related work experience.
  • Excellent attention to detail and superior organizational skills.
