SVP- Relationship Management – Global Intermediaries

Location: New York, NY, USA

The Role / Responsibilities:
Intermediaries facing individual contributor role responsible for building long term relationship with key global intermediaries in the US region (the territory) . Within the role, the candidate will deliver tailored value proposition directly to key constituents in strategic investment banks and financial sponsors and in particular will seek to expand Moody's Investors Service footprint beyond the rating advisory functions in DCM, syndication desks and finance teams. The candidate will work autonomously with limited supervision by the Head of Relationship - Global Intermediaries

Scope
  • Overall responsibility for the coordination and execution of a strategic outreach plan for the US territory for both key Investment Banks and Financial Sponsors (30+ institutions). This will include developing detailed account plans per intermediary.
  • Proactively manage and expand relationship with key constituents in those institutions (e.g. Rating Advisory teams, Heads of DCM and Syndication, Heads of Financing)).
  • Create a detailed mapping on key personnel and tailored made outreach plan to make sure they understand Moody's Value Proposition and its differentiating factors
  • Collect market intelligence to share with broader groups within MIS (Commercial, Analytical franchises, Senior Management)
  • Coordinate with a wide range of internal stakeholders the execution of the outreach plan
  • Work in close cooperation with the RM - US team responsible for maximizing revenue generation in the territory and managing the day to day business development and account management operations with both intermediaries and end-customers (issuers)
  • Participate in the design and review of the global strategic and tactical plan
  • Expected to spend approximately 40% of the time meeting external constituents
  • Acts as speaker or facilitator of expert panels in internal and external meetings and conferences.
  • Provide feedback on product needs/ideas/concepts to both Product Management and Marketing/ Value Proposition Team where appropriate.


The Department / Team
The primary function of the Relationship Management (RM) department is the establishment, maintenance and management of rating relationships. Within the RM department, the Global Intermediaries function focuses on delivering tailored value propositions directly to key global intermediaries (investment banks and financial sponsors) and work with a wide range of internal stakeholders to coordinate and execute necessary outreach. The team is looking at long term relationship building and not managing day-to-day transactions with those constituents - those remain the function of the regional US RM team

Requirements:
  • Broad Capital and Credit Markets experience. Excellent understanding of financial instruments and ability to translate this into Moody's value proposition
  • Proven Business Development and Relationship Management experience.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, ability to build a business
  • Work a broad internal stakeholder base, ability to think strategically.
  • Ability to understand business models and decision making processes within intermediaries
  • Ability to effectively and eloquently chair several meetings daily with intermediaries across a large range of different profiles on short notice or preparation.
  • Expert level knowledge on financial instruments across all Moody's analytical franchises, key characteristics and dynamics of capital and credit markets.
  • Expert level knowledge on business operational models for investment banks and private equity firms
  • Good understanding of Moody's services and products, contracts and general conduct of business
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation and influencing skills. Ideally, management experience to evidence potential to grow further in the organization.
  • Ability to hold a 60 minutes in person meeting with a Head of DCM or equivalent to articulate and explain Moody's value proposition
  • High autonomy in achieving business objectives
Academic Qualifications / Work Experience
  • Minimum of Undergraduate / First Level degree (or equivalent) preferably in finance, accounting, business or economics.
  • Extensive years of experience in the fixed income capital market industry is required.
  • Extensive experience in relationship management is desired
