This financial services organisation has grown to be one of Australia and New Zealand’s most respected banks. To serve customers better, maintaining a strong AML and financial crime governance and oversight framework is vital to growing and sustaining their business and achieving trust and confidence in their industry.

The General Manager, Ongoing Customer Due Diligence (OCDD) is a critical role as the bank develops a Financial Crime Compliance (FCC) Centre of Excellence (CoE) to help meet AML / CTF, sanctions and broader financial crime obligations across all the countries in which it operates including Australia, New Zealand, the UK, USA and Asia.   The FCC CoE will centralise capabilities across a number of core execution teams, including OCDD obligations.  This encompasses the following components:

  • Transaction Monitoring
  • Customer Monitoring
  • Reporting (SMR, TTR, IFTI and regulatory reporting)

The General Manager, OCDD will be the primary point of accountability for the strategy, planning and execution of the OCDD components to ensure financial crime compliance.

This is a transformational journey and the successful candidate will require a significant amount of advanced strategic thinking, leadership and change management expertise. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced candidate to build foundational capability, whilst strategically there is an opportunity to review systems and technology and processes.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Extensive experience leading a transaction monitoring function in a complex financial services organisation or another heavily regulated global organisation;
  • A deep understanding of regulatory requirements;
  • Previously led large-scale enterprise wide transformation projects that incorporated proactive and innovative solutions to address business challenges and achieve organisational goals and objectives;
  • Proven leadership experience at General Manager level and strong relationships with industry regulators and TM technology providers;
  • Developed and led a high performing team, preferably through a period of change; and
  • Relevant tertiary and post graduate qualifications.
