Head of Data Science – Home Owners

The purpose of the Home owner’s tribe is to HELP our Customers buy, own and sell their home in a fair, honest and efficient manner

This role is responsible for nurturing, developing and growing analytics capability across the tribe, building and fostering a strong data driven culture and ensuring knowledge sharing, learning / training / up-skilling, career development, and standards / governance / QA are embraced and adopted.

A key element of this is driving the data agenda within the Home Owners tribe, ensuring delivery of best practice end-to-end analytics including data engineering, data analytics and insights through to directly attributable business outcomes. To this end, the role will lead a data specific squad within the Home Owners tribe to support the uplift of analytics capability in Home Owners, while linking in to the wider Enterprise Analytics roadmap.

The role will also support the Home Owners Tribe Lead in achieving the tribe’s mission, support the wider tribe culture and function and be an active member of the tribe’s leadership team.

A day in the life of a Head of Data Science at ANZ
  • Address and solve complex business issues using large amounts of data
  • Have a clear understanding of the end-to-end analytics journey as well as define and deliver the Home Owners data roadmap
  • Develop advanced algorithms that transform key business processes and automate banker decisions and activities
  • Implement a fact-based culture throughout the bank.
  • Continuous generation, monitoring, presenting and conducting of 'fact-based' analysis of relevant customer insights to use at any time for the development and improvement of relevant and innovative propositions
  • Generate, monitor, present and analyse relevant customer insights, costs, benefits, and risks for customers, clients and cohort products; this could include business casing, what if scenarios and opportunity sizing & assessments
  • Develop tools and methods to fully profile customers and customer segments
  • Source data from a variety of sources to combine, synthesise and analyse to generate insights
  • Initiate, design and implement innovative trends in the field of data science
  • Support key data platform and/or data scheduling jobs to support insights delivery to key audiences (e.g. frontline, other tribes)
  • Lead, optimise, design and execute business interventions (customers and operational) to uplift customer engagement and business performance
What you will bring to the Home Owners tribe:
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to lead and inspire a team
  • Good understanding of the Banking system and products, service, channels
  • Strong customer lens and affinity
  • Solid understanding of predictive modelling, pattern recognition, clustering, supervised and unsupervised learning
  • Proven experience in applied probability and statistics
  • Hands-on knowledge and experience with tools and techniques for analysis, data manipulation and presentation (e.g. SAS, SQL, Tableau, VBA, QlikView BI)
  • Experience in using open source technologies for Data Science, specifically Python/R
  • Analytical and inquisitive mindset to continuously improve the level of insight surfaced
  • Strong ability to translate data insights into practical business recommendations
  • Strong data visualisation skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate to all stakeholders (technical and non-technical)
