Job Overview
Fantastic opportunity for a .Net Developer with strong C#, SQL Server and .Net skills to work on existing winforms desktop applications. The successful candidate will be responsible for liaising with clients and professional services teams, for maintenance of existing desktop software, as well as developing tools and utilities for data migrations and customer integrations. In this role, the developer will be working predominantly with C# but also older visual basic legacy technologies. This position will be based in our Melbourne CBD office, reporting directly to the Software Development Manager.

Responsibilities
• Develop winform desktop applications and databases using primarily .NET, SQL Server and other Microsoft technologies
• Unit test work to ensure it meets requirements and to minimize rework
• Work with financial applications, scripting configurations and databases as required
• Take part in technical and client meetings providing clear communication to technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Troubleshoot support issues as and when required
• Document clear and concise written descriptions of technical issues raised
• Contribute during Agile technical design and planning meetings, communicating accurate status updates, risks and technical challenges

Essential Skills
• Excellent spoken communication skills - contribute/ propose/ facilitate in meetings
• Experience Developing in C#, Visual Basic or other Microsoft .Net language (2 years experience)
• Proven SQL database knowledge with use of either Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Microsoft Access
• Ability to communicate directly with and gather requirements from clients
• Can demonstrate strong problem solving and analytical skills

Desirable Skills
• Working knowledge of Visual Basic 6, COM and ActiveX
• Knowledge of scripting with Python or VB Script
• Knowledge of Subversion SVN, GIT
• Previous experience with either a financial institution (retail bank, investment bank, insurance, etc.) or a software company
• Understanding of Agile development
