This firm is one of the largest Private Markets (PE/Infrastructure/Real Estate/Alternative Debt) advisory firms in the world that specialises in advising global superannuation and pension funds. With offices in North America, Europe and Australia – the opportunities for global access to private market transactions is attractive resulting in this firms rapid growth. The function performed is Asset Management, investing in secondaries, Co-investment and Investing in globally leading fund managers. One may refer to them as an extension of their superannuation and pension fund unlisted asset/private markets teams. The Australian function of this business is focused currently on Infrastructure and Agriculture with a team of roughly 10 based in Sydney.
Reporting to a VP the Analyst will have the following duties:
Related to transaction work: this will be to assist with secondary transactions (ie offering assets globally to local Australian and Asian clients) and co-investment deals where the function will be to run transaction diligence, review GP financial models and investment packs with findings to be presented to the client.
Related to Asset Management the function will include: Initiating and affecting board level outcomes within the company to maximise client returns; Challenging and understanding the proposal of business plans by management; Reading and understanding the content of board meetings, what is coming up for board approval or what has been approved, monitoring and understanding performance across all areas of the asset, involvement in refinancings/CAPEX reviews or M&A (understanding, testing assumptions) within the assets; analysing quarterly reports, reporting and presenting all of the above to clients.
Fund manager diligence: advising clients on allocating to fund managers based on diligence and appropriateness of strategy.
We are looking for an analyst/consultant level candidate with roughly 1.5-2.5 years of experience, noting this is an Analyst level hire (not Associate). The background we are looking for is corporate finance candidate who is building or reviewing infrastructure valuation models, likely to come from the valuations or deals modelling teams of consulting firms. The ability to move to multiple North American and European offices is high. Exposure though will immediately be global, with most transactions be on deals outside of Australia/New Zealand. Asset Management work will be on local assets.
