Our client is an established, high-profile national non-profit enterprise operating across Australia. Supported by a dedicated finance structure, the organisation oversees multi-entity operations, investment portfolios, and strategic growth programs.
Reporting directly to a highly regarded Head of Finance, this permanent Financial Accountant role oversees end-to-end month-end accounting, multi-entity group reporting, tax compliance, and payroll, while supervising an Accounts Assistant.
Based in Sydney CBD, this role is ideal for a hands-on CA/CPA qualified (or part-qualified) accountant-including first movers from public practice Business Services or commercial accountants stepping into a leadership-track role.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Ledger & Month-End: Take full ownership of general ledger maintenance, month-end closing, reconciliations, and intercompany schedules across multiple entities.
- Reporting & Analysis: Provide departmental P&L reporting to business heads, support operational reporting, and assist with annual budgeting and audit processes.
- Payroll & Tax Compliance: Manage monthly payroll compliance and oversee tax requirements including BAS, GST, and FBT returns.
- Systems & Process Improvement: Maintain ERP workflows (Business Central) and assist in upgrading dynamic budgeting, forecasting, and reporting tools.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a direct report (Accounts Assistant).
What We Are Looking For:
- CA / CPA qualified or near-qualified (Business Services or commercial background; non-audit first movers welcome).
- Proven experience in month-end closing, year-end procedures, and payroll operations.
- Strong knowledge of Australian tax compliance (BAS, GST, FBT).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage direct reports and engage senior stakeholders.
