Project Manager

The role:

The program is responsible for delivering improvements and enhancements to the department systems and delivering a modern platform for third party providers. There is a specific focus on establishing the appropriate framework of standards, protocols and controls for vendors to participate in the market place of service and product offerings within this sector.

This role will work closely with the Program Manager and Project Managers assigned to the projects within the program, along with a diverse group of senior stakeholders and business customers.

Key accountabilities:

  • A Project Manager able to manage vendors and establishing an operating model for vendor engagement
  • Manage business process projects from requirements to successful implementation
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent, mature stakeholder management skills
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering IT / business transformation projects where standardisation and excellent results have been required and achieved
  • Manage the planning and delivery of complex strategic projects, this must include delivery of software development
  • Manage entire project teams to ensure that the project outcomes are achieved
  • Develop and implement project management plans to ensure the success of the project
  • Regularly communicate with key senior stakeholders to ensure the identification and tracking of project objectives
  • Prepare and present project status reports and communicate project updates to inform decision making at the senior level
  • Balance competing demands to ensure projects objectives are achieved
  • Manage effective teams and relationships with diverse stakeholders including business, ITD, legal, procurement and external vendors
  • Lead and facilitate productive discussions with all stakeholders
  • Take responsibility for delivering on intended outcomes
  • Monitor the completion of project milestones against goals and initiate amendments where necessary
  • Responsible for the management of project finances including budget formation, forecasting and reporting up to 5 million dollars
  • Actively identify, manage and escalate risks, issues and dependencies to program leadership
  • Ensure solutions are aligned with Department architectural guidelines
  • Demonstrated experience in managing external vendors
  • Co-ordinate with business as usual teams to ensure the support model and process are well defined and that the solution is transitioned successfully
  • Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Project and PowerPoint skills
  • PRINCE2 Methodology certification or equivalent awareness/experience

You will have:
  • Project Management experience in delivering both business and ICT projects
  • Experience managing and delivering multiple streams
  • Commercial/financials/budgeting experience
  • Experience in the education sector is advantageous
