Your Role and Responsibilities


PRACTICE OVERVIEW
IBM is expanding its Fraud and Financial Crimes practice to complement the current Anti-Money Laundering (AML) practice which supports regional and global financial institutions to develop and implement sound AML and sanctions practices to prevent financial crime.
Our Sydney team engages in reviews and provides recommendations to major financial institutions related to all aspects of the Financial Crimes program from Know Your Customer (KYC), Transaction Monitoring (TM), Sanctions, Fraud Risk, independent reviews and remediation projects.
The Senior Consulting Manager will be a critical member of the broaden Financial Crimes team to provide:-
  • Process re-design, automation & digitisation
  • Organisational design
  • Capability review & uplift
  • System Integration Design, Build and Run
  • Client Lifecycle Management
  • Enhanced data integration
  • Entity analytics
The practice also conducts training to client staff, and provides advice and guidance on all aspects across Financial Crime Programs. This includes: policies and procedures, transactional reviews, framework reviews, lookbacks, independent testing, regulatory reporting, and assessment and validation of analytical tools and databases.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Ability to provide Financial Crimes thought leadership
  • Deliver domain expertise across Fraud and Financial Crimes risk assessments, reviews of AML Program elements, analysis and investigations and Suspicious Matter Report preparation as needed within the scope of engagements.
  • Review and testing of TM and real-time screening policies, procedures and implementation. This may include production work to support client commitments under internal governance programs or to meet regulatory undertakings.
  • Be abreast of the latest legislation, regulatory changes and emerging risks to ensure that client policies and procedures for deterring and detecting ML activities are comprehensive, robust, complete, and up-to-date (e.g. AUSTRAC, DFAT, FATCA, UNSC).
  • Review and analyse client written materials, such as policies, procedures, and governance artifacts. Assist in drafting and revising client deliverables - including reports, correspondence, presentations, and written tools such as policies and templates.
  • Conduct on and offsite Financial Crimes (Fraud, AML and Sanctions) assessments, which may include reviewing all aspects of Financial Crime Programs (e.g. policies, procedures, administrative and technical controls, security tools and software calibration)
  • Be able to recommend and enable a Systems Integration and Automation uplift leveraging the best in class processes and assets
  • Play a hands-on role in business development, such as by helping to draft proposals and participating in meetings with current or potential clients.
  • Sound project management skills.
  • Participate in client meetings, such as interviews or presentations, which often include senior executives or directors of the client.
  • Monitor and prepare reports on global regulatory developments including drafting articles and guidance for internal and client updates.
  • Travel as required to client sites in the Australia & New Zealand markets.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Strong understanding of Fraud and Financial Crimes subject matter, Alert and Investigation review, and Suspicious Matter Reporting, including the ability to understand and apply relevant regulations implemented by local and global regulators (e.g. AUSTRAC, DFAT, BSA/AML)
  • Superior communications skills with the ability to construct well-founded, clear, and concise analyses and recommendations.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong data, statistics and analytical skills, and the ability to work with large datasets.
  • Experience performing information security compliance reviews and/or audits
  • Proficient understanding of transactional message formats including SWIFT, Direct Entry and knowledge of new and up-and-coming payment mechanisms (i.e. New Payments Platform, ISO 20022)
  • Ability to handle complex information, solve problems, and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients and within all levels of the organisation.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships and build teams.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong reputation for integrity and ethics.
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Postgraduate degree and/or Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) certification.
EXPERIENCE:
  • At least 3 years of experience relating to Fraud, Financial Crimes, AML and Sanctions.
