Risk Management CIL (RMCIL) provides a risk management function to Commonwealth Insurance Limited (the General Insurance business of CBA within the Retail Banking Services Division). The team acts as an Advisor to the business on all risk related matters and also performs all Line 2 assurance functions in accordance with the CBA Operational and Compliance Risk Management frameworks.

Do work that matters
You will lead a team of risk professionals in providing timely and pragmatic risk and compliance advice to the General Insurance and Finance and Actuarial Teams. On any given day you will:
  • Proactively monitor the legislative and regulatory landscape for change impacting the CIL business and communicate those changes to impacted business lines in sufficient time to ensure compliance obligations are met;
  • Provide compliance advice to the business on incidents to ensure that recommendations on reportability can be made by key decision makers in line with the requirements of the Incident Management standard and Regulatory deadlines;
  • Oversee the secretariat function for the Incident Reportability Committee;
  • Ensure compliance obligations data flowing from Regulatory change is identified and accurately documented in RiskInsite and that risk management framework linkages within RiskInsite are maintained and kept up to date;
  • Review, challenge and advise on the implementation and embedding of the Compliance Risk Management framework, ensuring adherence to policy and framework requirements;
  • Lead Line 2 assurance activity to periodically test the implementation and embedding of compliance obligations;
  • Oversee the CIL Significant Policy Framework to ensure the policies are regularly reviewed and remain fit for purpose for CIL;
  • Act as the Line 2 coordination point for regulatory breach reporting and updates, responses to Notices and Prudential Reviews;
  • Prepare concise, insightful and timely reporting to Board and Management stakeholders on regulatory engagement and legislative change;
  • Review and provide line 2 sign off on customer offer documentation and communication material; and
  • Undertake key Governance, project or compliance role(s) as required to support the overall risk management framework for CIL.

We're interested in hearing from people who possess:
  • General Insurance experience is a key requirement given the CIL business;
  • Extensive experience in Compliance within the Financial Services industry;
  • Demonstrated experience with compliance management frameworks, including technical experience in compliance and the Open Pages (RiskInsite) system;
  • Prior experience in monitoring and interpreting legislative change;
  • Ability to manage multiple and complex stakeholders with excellent communication skills; and
  • Tertiary qualifications in Law, Finance, Economics, Accounting or Business.
