Senior Product Manager, Observability

A key opportunity to enable our entire cloud engineering organisation lies in our cloud Observability platform. These capabilities help us monitor how our platforms and products are behaving, and to diagnose and tackle problems when they appear. Defining the north star for this platform forms a key pillar to supporting Atlassian's ambitions to build a world-class cloud offering.

As a Senior Product Manager at Atlassian, you will advance our mission to unleash the potential in every Atlassian engineering team, and lay the foundations that turbocharge the Atlassian cloud business. Help us redefine what observability means for Atlassian's cloud, and how it enables progress towards crafting a desirable destination for all customers.

Your work will directly impact every single Atlassian R&D cloud engineer, and will ultimately impact thousands of customers including some of the leaders in their industries, now and for the next decade.

More about you

You love working hard to make products as amazing as possible for customers. You have prior success setting product vision and strategy and launching excellent products & platforms. You can lead the team through setting clear goals, making decisions, and communicating crisply to your team, to leaders across Atlassian, and to our customers & partners. You can map a company strategy directly to a team's roadmap, and clearly ladder their results back into that strategy. You're excited by deeply understanding our end-users' frustrations, and are unafraid of diving into technical details when required.

You've got charisma in spades: you're social and adept at building relationships across product lines and functional groups to make sure everyone is aligned. Previous experience in highly scalable cloud platforms is a plus.

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:
  • 3+ years of product management experience, ideally at a fast-growing software company
  • Significant experience defining and launching features that solve customer and business problems
  • You love obsessing over your customers, and working directly with design and engineering to ship delightful products
  • Ability to prioritise opportunities, balance the needs of our customers with those of our business, and clearly communicate the rationale behind your decisions
  • Ability to paint a compelling vision to inspire your teams and senior stakeholders
  • Good instincts matched with deep analytical thinking. You're comfortable defining and tracking key business and usage success metrics
  • A track record of building relationships and influencing without authority at all levels of the organisation
It's great, but not required, if you have:
  • BE/BS/BA with an emphasis in technology, IT or operations; Masters or MBA preferred
  • Experience with building out infrastructure at scale, including AWS, Docker or Azure
  • Experience working on cloud observability platforms

The Observability team is responsible for all of the signals our cloud services generate, to support various logging, monitoring, alerting and tracing scenarios. Our focus is to ensure all Atlassian engineers have the necessary insights into their services to understand how they're operating, and to detect & diagnose issues before our customers notice that anything may be amiss. We know that things go wrong in software - and when they do, we build customer trust by dealing with those situations before they even realise that something happened. We're a high-leverage team, and that will only increase as we onboard more products, more users and more engineers onto our platform offerings.
