To strengthen our team, we are looking for a Forward Deployed Databricks Engineer with a strong technical background and a passion for building impactful data and AI solutions directly with customers.

Tasks

• You are responsible for delivering customised end-to-end data platform and analytics solutions on customer projects, with a strong focus on Databricks-based implementations across the full project lifecycle.
• Work closely with customers to understand technical and business challenges, identify solution opportunities and translate requirements into scalable platform architectures.
• Design, build and optimise data pipelines, lakehouse architectures, data models and engineering workflows on Databricks.
• Implement and deploy robust solutions for data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, governance and analytics in production environments.
• Collaborate directly with customer stakeholders, acting as a bridge between business needs, platform strategy and technical delivery.
• Support customers hands-on in adopting best practices around Data Engineering, DataOps, CI/CD, cloud architecture and platform enablement.
• Work in agile environments and contribute to the continuous improvement of delivery methods, accelerators and reusable assets.
• Stay up to date with the latest developments in Databricks, cloud ecosystems and modern data architectures, and work together with market-leading technology partners.

Qualifications:

• Completed studies in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering or a comparable field
• Solid experience with Python, SQL, and optionally Java, Rust or similar
• Strong hands-on experience in data engineering, building and operating scalable data pipelines and distributed data processing workloads
• Experience with Databricks, or strong experience with comparable modern data platforms and a willingness to deepen expertise in the Databricks ecosystem
• Good understanding of lakehouse architecture, data modelling, batch and streaming pipelines, orchestration and platform operations
• Knowledge of cloud services from AWS, Azure or GCP, ideally in the context of modern data platform deployments
• Experience with software engineering best practices, including version control, CI/CD, testing, modular development and automation
• Ability to prioritise customer needs and create technical solutions that generate measurable business value
• Experience with agile development concepts like Scrum
• Strong communication skills and confidence in working directly with customer stakeholders in delivery-oriented environments
• Excellent German skills, good English skills, and willingness to travel if required by the project
