The bank is organized along the three lines of defense operating model. Group Credit is part of the control function in the second line of defense.

The Group Head of Policy and Reporting (GHPR) reports to the Group Chief Credit Officer who in turn reports to the Group Chief Credit & Risk Officer who reports to the Group Chief Executive Officer.

The GHPR is to own the operational implementation of the IFRS9 Standards through the development and implementation of the necessary control and oversight tools.

The GHPR must deliver an enhanced a reporting framework that effectively identifies, measures, monitors and reports credit risk across the group.

The GHPR is to maintain and develop the credit risk policies and standards across the group to ensure that it remains relevant to the bank’s business strategy through liaison with stakeholder group wide.

The GHPR must continually develop the material provided to credit risk committees to better reflect the credit risk the bank faces.

It is estimated that the roles’ tasks will be distributed across the following broad categories;

  1. IFRS9 operationalisation – 30%
  2. Delivery of a credit risk reporting framework – 30%
  3. Maintain and develop the group level credit policies and standards – 30%
  4. Coordination of credit risk committees – 10%

The job responsibilities within these broad categories are described in more detail below.

  • IFRS9 operationalisation – 30%

The GHPR will liaise with all stakeholders to ensure that the credit risk function delivers on the IFRS9 Standards and that credit risk policy and standards reflect the requirements of IFRS9 as it develops.

GHPR is to liaise with Finance, Credit Risk Management, internal and external Audit with regard to the operationalisation of IFRS9.

  • Delivery of a credit risk reporting framework – 30%

The GHPR will build a risk reporting framework to identify, measure, monitor, and report credit risk from a bottom up perspective starting at the facility level.

The reporting will specifically support the requirements of IRFS9 capturing the staging rules and reporting on portfolio classification.

  • Maintain and develop the group level credit risk policies and standards – 30%

The GHPR ensure that group credit policies and standards remain relevant to the Bank’s business strategy in accordance with risk appetite and regulatory requirements and that the policies and standards are effectively operationalised within the reporting framework.

The GHPR must communicate policy and standard development to stakeholders through the approval process and liaison with stakeholders group wide.

  • Coordination of credit risk committees – 10%

The GHPR must continually develop the material being presented at credit committees to better reflect the credit risk the Bank faces.

Risk,  Compliance & Business Continuity:

At all times, act with due care, skill and diligence to ensure compliance with Bank ABC’s risk culture, policies and procedures, Code of Conduct and Values.

Escalate risk and compliance issues in a timely manner to your line manager, and ensure that all mandatory training is completed to schedule.

Participate in exercises to rehearse the banks response to an emergency situation (i.e. evacuation exercises and Business Continuity tests)

Job Requirements:

Knowledge

Strong knowledge of IFRS9

Strong knowledge of risk reporting and statistics

Deep knowledge of best practice concerning the development of credit policy and standards  

Education / Certifications

Degree with an element of  finance or equivalent, 

Chartered Institute of Bankers associate or equivalent

Experience

At least 15 years’ experience preferably with an international bank demonstrating some mobility and diversity in cultural awareness
