The primary function of this position is to analyze and report on portfolio risk. This position will provide back-up support with other Performance Analysis & Investment Risk (PAIR) teams, as well as with key clients, including Risk Managers/Consultants, Investment Analysts/Managers, Global Advisory Services as well as legal teams.

Performance and Risk Analysis

  • Review portfolio risk statistics, performance and attribution by analyzing the accuracy and quality of the underlying data.
  • Create and run standard reports and queries.
  • Maintain performance, composite and/or benchmark information.
  • Identify and resolve data issues impacting risk, performance, characteristics and attribution reporting.
  • Provide commentary for portfolio performance and attribution.
  • Ensure reports are delivered to the appropriate clients and/or provided via automated processes to downstream systems by the agreed upon date.
  • Provide support for Risk Consultants and investment team when required.
  • Work on projects to improve the accuracy and efficiency of existing processes.
  • Review automated validation controls and complete issue resolution process
Client Support
  • Respond to ad-hoc requests for risk information.
  • Ensure client requirements are understood during product launch and account onboarding, and internal systems/processes are updated support requirements approved by PAIR Operations management.
Industry Trends
  • Remain current on risk and performance related trends, topics and issues.

Ideal candidates will have:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, math or other quantitative discipline.
  • 2 - 4 years relevant work experience in the investment industry.
  • Experience using financial/risk application software.
  • Prior investment risk, investment performance, investment operations or fund accounting experience is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience performing mathematical and statistical calculations.
  • Knowledge of financial instruments and markets.
  • Knowledge of GIPS Performance Presentation Standards.
  • Knowledge of source systems for data and ability to verify for accuracy.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks with deadlines in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft applications: Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Access.
  • Experience with SQL navigator or other querying tools.
