Senior Business (Systems) Analyst
The Senior Business (Systems) Analyst acts as the requirements project lead. Through liaising with stakeholders to understand problems and opportunities, the Sr. BA elicits requirements and documents these requirements for use within the project life cycle. The Sr. BA ensures the requirements map to a real business need, are approved by all relevant stakeholders, and meet essential quality standards. The BA builds exceptional relationships with business partners and T&O teams.

Key Accountabilities
  • Liaises with stakeholders to understand problems and opportunities, and recommends solutions to enable the organization to meet its goals
  • Gathers these requirements and documents these requirements for use within the project life cycle.
  • Ensures the requirements map to a real business need, are approved by all relevant stakeholders, and meets essential quality standards
  • Ensures system specifications meet the business unit expectations/ requirements, and negotiate solutions.
  • Plans and conducts third-party software analysis as needed for inclusion in the project solution.
  • Works with project stakeholders to validate their requirements and analysis models via techniques such as reviews and walkthroughs.
  • Participates in reviews or inspections, in collaboration with the project team, to ensure the quality of work products.
  • Builds, sustains, and leverages relationships with individuals within his/her area of immediate responsibility when gathering, validating and approving requirements
  • Understands the scope of complexity that exists across business value, technology, and interaction models.
  • Understands and communicates technical and architectural complexities of a technical solution so that project stakeholders can easily understand.
  • Recommends approaches to streamline and integrate technological processes in the organization to improve overall efficiency
  • Develops, recommends, and employs productivity aids in all aspects of assignments to accelerate delivery.
  • Identifies opportunities to strengthen the capability at BMO, such as: sharing expertise to promote technical development, mentoring employees, building communities of practice and networks across technology.
  • Adheres to and ensures that others adhere to the organizations Requirements Management Process , in order to support organizational standards and ensure consistency of deliverables
  • Stays abreast of industry technical and business trends through participation in professional associations, practice communities & individual learning


Qualifications

Core Knowledge:
  • Generally 4-6+ years of work experience in IT or business environment and/or B.S./B.A. in computer science, engineering, information systems, math or business
  • Possesses analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrates applied knowledge of one or more analysis and problem decomposition techniques
  • Understands complete Software Development Life Cycle and can apply the applicable portions of the 'Feasibility', 'Requirements' and 'Analysis' phases.
  • Demonstrates writing and documentation skills.
  • Understands and can explain to others the core processes involved in their area of support
  • Strong Communication skills - communicates easily with varying stakeholders in various situations (e.g., controlled situations such as one-on-one interviews, formal information gathering sessions, etc. and informal situations such as discussions via email )
  • Remains alert to new techniques for insights, analytics, and data visualization, and thinks about new ways of applying them.
Experience in any of the following:
  • AML
    • Experience with data requirements, data mapping
    • Experience with technology solutions around complying with AML regulations and combating ML; e.g., Name Screening, Watchlist management, Customer and Enhanced Due Diligence, Customer Risk Scoring, Transaction Monitoring
  • Information Security
    • Experience with data requirements, data mapping
    • Experience with Cybersecurity/Info Security projects; e.g., Vulnerability and Configuration Management, Certificate and Key Management, Identity and Access Management, etc.
  • Fraud
    • Experience with data requirements, data mapping
    • Experience with technology solutions around Fraud detection and intervention: cheque, credit and debit card fraud, etc.
