The SGCIB KYC "Know Your Customer" is a key pillar of the bank's anti-money laundering system. Its mission is to ensure the bank is compliant with its obligation of client identification and due diligence on a worldwide basis and to provide the institution with adequate and complete client information.

The Head of CLIC China is responsible for managing, developing and leading 3 teams: New Client On-boarding (NBO), KYC Reviews, and Data Client Referential/Projects. The candidate will also be accountable for the direct supervision of the KYC Reviews and Trigger Event functions for China across all business lines (MARK, CORI, GTPS). The role reports to the COO Office locally and regionally to the Head of CLIC Asia Pacific.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Management of 13 staffs in China. This includes usual management duties (budget management, goals / priorities definition, performance assessment, team governance, people development, succession plan build out etc.).
  • Regular updates to SG China Executive Committee and GBS China Executive Committee.
  • Support front office across the Global Banking and Investor Solutions of Société Générale in Asia ("GBIS" - Corporate and Investment Banking) with regards to on-boarding new and maintaining existing clients and ensure client referential data quality. Through this process, the candidate should also be able to optimize the commercial experience and detect and business opportunities.
  • Serve as the single point of contact for Front Office and internal teams for queries surrounding Client Life Cycle Management.
  • Act as the clients' point of contact by addressing their issues and concerns and providing resolutions to their queries in line with our internal policies, the regulatory environment and market practices.
  • Strong knowledge of China AML/KYC regulatory and compliance issues particularly in the banking and investments sectors, to ensure our KYC standard is compliant with local regulatory requirements
  • Work in partnership with the business lines, key internal stakeholders and senior management to establish and manage the priority of all on-boarding requests, obtaining document requirements for KYC and regulatory requirements, and provide transparency on onboarding cases.
  • Ensure high quality KYC files are produced in line with prevailing policy and procedures.
  • Ensure proper client reference data set up in SG systems and application(s), including the necessary regulatory requirements (FATCA, CRS, 871M, Dodd Frank, EMIR, etc.).
  • Participate in regular meetings with relevant stakeholders to review issues and the progress on files.
  • Lead and arrange internal meetings with all stakeholders to identify, mediate, facilitate and resolve any blocking point in the Client Life Cycle Management.
  • Improve transparency and efficiency of key on-boarding / KYC Reviews processes and organization through effective SLA management
  • Liaise with global/regional project teams and regional stakeholders on implementation of strategic tools.
  • Optimize the KYC process, identifying opportunities for improvement, synergies and cost reduction.
  • Contribute to an efficient functional governance of KYC with smooth and transparent communication with global stakeholders.

Experience & Qualifications (Required)
  • 5+ years' experience in KYC management in an investment bank
  • Experience of leading local teams with remote functional reporting
  • Strong knowledge of AML and KYC regulations.
  • Experience of working in an international, multi-cultural organization.

  • MSc in Business, Finance or other relevant field
