New Position as US Regulatory Expert in Danske Bank Group

Danske Bank A/S has a new position for a US regulatory professional with basic knowledge and hands-on experience in one or more of the following areas of US law: banking, securities, swaps and derivatives and investment advisory. The position will be based in either New York or in Copenhagen, depending on the location of the right candidate. The successful candidate will provide advice and consult with a newly formed Group US Governance Board within Danske Bank A/S, which will have overall responsibility for assessing and addressing US regulatory and compliance risks for the Group. The Group’s current US operations is comprised of a New York based broker-dealer, Danske Market Inc., whose principal business is providing access for US institutional investors to invest in securities issued by Nordic companies and traded on the Nordic and European exchanges and markets.

Your Main Responsibilities
You will be responsible for creating and maintaining an overview of the Group’s US compliance risk profile, including US regulatory requirements associated with US business activities, and providing support to business units on mitigation of US compliance risks. You will do this in close collaboration with the business units’ legal and risk functions. Furthermore, you will be responsible for coordinating business units reporting to the Group US Governance Board.

In addition, you will be involved in Group projects related to US matters, new products, processes supporting management of risk dependencies and licence exemptions, implementation of US extraterritorial requirements, closing of US compliance risk events, interactions with US regulators and much more.

Furthermore, you will be responsible for developing and implementing specific US compliance risk internal policies and similar internal framework.

You will also be responsible for developing specific US compliance culture programmes and communication and awareness initiatives.

Since the position is new, you will have a great opportunity to influence and design the details of your responsibilities.

Your Skills and Experience
You have a law degree from a US university. Furthermore, you have expert skills and heavy experience with US federal laws and regulations applying for investment products (including securities, derivatives and other financial instruments) and/or banking products.

Furthermore, you have insights and experience on interacting with US regulators achieved from working at a US regulator – and/or relevant experience from the financial industry or a law firm.

Your Working Style
Your working style is characterised by a mind-set of succeeding through collaboration with business units and their legal and risk functions and a sincere curiosity to understand the business model and strategy of the Group’s corporate and institution (C&I) business unit. Furthermore, working as an internal US legal expert you have a natural talent for approaching your colleagues as an internal partner and bluntly sharing your views and assessments with them.

Besides, you have a structured approach to delivering the tasks and projects you are responsible for.

From an organisational point of view, you will be part of a global legal team (with more than 170 colleagues across 16 countries) and work closely together with the Head of US Governance Board Secretariat.

You are comfortable working in a hectic environment as well as working in an environment of knowledge-sharing, sparring and under an informal and friendly atmosphere – and in an environment where the customers are in the core of what we do.
