The European Asset Management division of the group is currently seeking to hire a Financial Analyst with an experience between 1 and 5 years (relevant internships are considered).

Cohen & Company (C&C) is a financial services company specializing in fixed income markets. It was founded in 1999 as an investment firm focused on small-cap banking institutions but has grown to provide an expanding range of capital markets and asset management services. C&C’s operating segments are Capital Markets, Asset Management, and Principal Investing. The Capital Markets segment consists of fixed income sales, trading, and matched book repo financing as well as new issue placements in corporate and securitized products and advisory services, operating primarily through the Company’s subsidiaries, J.V.B. Financial Group, LLC in the United States and Cohen & Company Financial Limited in Europe. The Asset Management segment manages assets through collateralized debt obligations, managed accounts, and investment funds. As of March 31, 2018, C&C managed approximately $3.4 billion in fixed income assets in a variety of asset classes including US and European trust preferred securities, subordinated debt, and corporate loans. As of March 31, 2018, 88.6% of the Company’s assets under management were in collateralized debt obligations that Cohen & Company manages, which were all securitized prior to 2008. Financial Analyst

The European Asset Management activities are currently expanding, and this division is currently seeking to hire a Financial Analyst. This position will be based in Paris even though travelling could be required. The position is already open and there is little flexibility for the starting date which should be intended as soon as possible.


The new hire will be required to perform financial analysis of different types of small and medium financial institutions including insurance companies, banks and real estate companies, mainly in the European space. This will include reviewing financial statements and building / updating excel-based models used to evaluate the performance of financed entities and/or to assess companies under consideration for new funding. The resulting analysis will be used internally in the investment decision-making process and will be incorporated in detailed credit reports for presentation to investors. The analyst will also work closely with the different parties involved in the administration of the managed vehicles (including trustees, rating agencies, swap counterparties, auditors, accountants etc.).


This position is particularly suited to a finance-oriented person with analytical acumen and particular interest in starting a career in Asset Management. The ideal candidate must be graduated (or on the verge of graduating) with a degree in finance / economics and have had at least one relevant experience with a respectable financial institution (ideally in the fixed income area). The successful candidate will also need to have an entrepreneurial spirit, be proactive, precise and capable of working under a minimum of supervision. The business flow may require some flexibility in term of working hours, but an adequate general time frame is preserved. The candidate must be fully proficient in English, and ideally also in French (both spoken and written). Other European languages will be considered a plus. The candidate must be highly proficient in Excel and must have a good knowledge of the Microsoft office suite (mainly Word and Power Point).

The position is remunerated through a fixed salary and a discretionary variable bonus. The actual package will depend on the profile and experience of each candidate.
