Twelve Capital is an established independent investment manager specialising in insurance investments for institutional clients. It is also a leading provider of capital to the insurance and reinsurance industry. It has offices in both Zurich and London. Currently the Group manages approx. USD 3.5bn. This role will be located in Germany in the firm’s new office in Munich. It will provide an exciting opportunity to assist in the growth and development of the German entity, whilst contributing on a wider scale to the overall strategy of the Group.

POSITION

We are seeking an experienced Compliance Officer to join the existing Compliance team, who will primarily be responsible for ensuring compliance with local regulatory requirements whilst also widely contributing to overall Group compliance.  Candidates should demonstrate thorough knowledge of BaFin requirements in an asset management context together with appropriate exposure to cross border issues, primarily distribution, in the EU.  The successful candidate will report directly to the Group Chief Compliance Officer.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with BaFin rules and regulations whilst operating within the context of the Groups compliance framework
  • To provide support to the Group Compliance team of Twelve Capital, primarily in respect of German Regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with Group compliance tasks including operation of the Group Compliance Monitoring Programme with oversight as appropriate
  • Provide support and assist with day to day compliance tasks particularly in respect of the Group’s distribution activities across continental Europe and the UK.
  • Assist in the maintenance of all compliance documentary and system records such as breaches registers, restricted lists, attestations, marketing registers, conduct registers, training and threshold competence records liaising where appropriate with relevant teams within Twelve.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate trade reconciliation processes and procedures within Twelve for meeting its requirements under MIFIDII/MIFiR. Ensure appropriate compliance with local regulatory requirements on a day to day basis
  • Provide advice to local distribution team and other staff members on an as needed basis in accordance with applicable regulations and Group policies
  • Responsibility for ensuring adherence to German corporate secretarial requirements and applicable corporate law
  • Provide assistance and input into the Group Compliance Monitoring Programme covering all aspects of the Group regulated entities responsibilities in applicable jurisdictions
  • Assist in monitoring of distribution and cross border issues in conjunction with other members of the team, including review and approval of financial promotion materials
  • Assist in monitoring of third party distribution partners particularly where activities are conducted on a cross border basis
  • Assist with maintenance of all compliance documentary records such as applicable registers (e.g. breaches, conflicts restricted list, marketing), attestations, training records, threshold competence assessments monitoring documentation etc.
  • Assist in the provision of requisite returns to relevant regulators, primarily BaFIN but also providing input where required across the Group.
  • Assist in monitoring of distribution and cross border issues in conjunction with other members of the team, including review and approval of financial promotion materials

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ relevant experience in the asset management or financial services industry
  • Strong academic background with legal focus
  • Extensive knowledge of German regulatory requirements, including cross border distribution
  • Knowledge of other regulatory regimes, particularly EU desirable
  • Familiarity with corporate law (primarily German, additional jurisdictions an advantage)
  • Track record of practical compliance monitoring in an asset management context preferably with a multi-jurisdictional bias
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to assess and analyse information and data and present results clearly and succinctly
  • Excellent organisational and inter personal skills
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate technical issues in a clear and concise manner
  • Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines whilst maintaining integrity and highest ethical standards
  • Excellent command of German and English
  • Candidate must have the right to work in Germany
