ROLE SUMMARY

In light of the heightened regulatory scrutiny on regulatory reporting and continuously evolving higher expectations, State Street Corporation in Hong Kong seeks to hire a senior leader as APAC Head of Regulatory Reporting and function as the oversight for APAC regulatory reporting. In this role, the candidate will be directly responsible for leading and implementing the global regulatory reporting transformation strategy in the APAC and also have direct ownership of Hong Kong regulatory reporting (for HKMA). The APAC regulatory reporting leader will play a key role in implementing the multi-year transformation of regulatory reporting from current state to best-in-class industry standards and in the process, will be driving significant changes in culture, processes and policies impacting multiple functions and businesses in the APAC region.

The individual will maintain robust relationships and successfully partner with senior leaders in the corporation to drive alignment with key initiatives like enterprise data governance standards. In addition to broad responsibilities for reporting, the individual will be responsible for implementing governance and controls around data and processes that are pertinent to regulatory reporting, in partnership with local legal entity controllers.

The individual will be responsible for enhancing the governance and controls of regulatory reporting, managing an on shore team of ~10 FTEs and an off-shore team of ~5FTEs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for regulatory reporting for HKMA and DPS (HK)
  • Take leadership role to participate and execute finance transformation
  • Work closely with IT/Compliance/Project team for develop/update and production of HKMA/DPS regulatory reporting database (COGNOS)
  • Ensure HKMA reporting guidelines are reviewed and updated in COGNOS
  • Review daily reporting for daily liquidity maintenance ratio and local assets ratio
  • Review daily management reporting for FX/MM P & L, mismatched ratio and currency position
  • Review financial disclosures for semi-annual submission to HKMA
  • Support HKMA examination, EY tax computation, internal audit and EY audit
  • Work closely with Boston team for head office/SEC reporting
  • Ensure internal controls are in place with ERM, Compliance, CIS and First Line of Defense
  • Prepare/review/update finance/control procedures as needed
  • Conduct regular meeting with finance staff to share HKMA guidelines and reporting requirements
  • Backup for SFC/MAS reporting
  • Manage and cross train finance staff for talent development and foster high performance
  • Participate in ad hoc projects
  • Maintaining a robust framework on internal controls around regulatory reporting; developing and standardizing all documentation on processes and controls
  • Driving accountability and ownership of data to business units and functions
  • Developing and managing teams; focus on recruiting and retaining high potential talent. Augmenting staff with more technical knowledge, analytical skills and better understanding of underlying product

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate for the position will possess an outstanding record of accomplishment with a proven business orientation and successful track record. In addition the ideal candidate will have:

  • Qualified accountant with HK HKMA reporting experience
  • Excellent knowledge with MS Excel, SUN and Oracle ledger & subledgers
  • Solid managerial skills, excellent communication skills in English, proactive and effective leader
  • Detail and deadline oriented
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
