Markets Operations is responsible for driving every part of the trade lifecycle post execution. Its global teams manage settlement activity, risk and control, while ensuring the delivery of regulatory compliance and seamless operational client service across 60 countries.

Global Markets has created a Global Markets Middle Office (GMMO) organisation within Global Markets Operations. It is a multi-year programme bringing together activities from FO Trade Support, Global Markets Operations, PC and Traded Risk.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Associate, Counterparty Credit Risk.

The role is to support one of the core components within Risk & Valuations Data Quality (RVQ) - Traded Credit Risk Data.

Based in Hong Kong, the Traded Credit Risk Data Analyst will be in a team responsible for ensuring the production of complete, accurate and timely counterparty risk and market data used by traded credit risk engines. The role will support managing the operation and controls as is today, but also support the articulation and delivery of the new target operating model as required under the Bank's various Future State programmes. The team will have staff based in the Bank's major hubs, in order to engage with the relevant stakeholders and act as the key conduit for the main operations performed in the Global Service Centres (GSCs).

Principal responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of standardised counterparty credit risk data production by providing a support service model to all end users, efficiently delivering data and reporting within a robust control framework, for areas such as Traded Risk, Reg Finance, PC, and Front Office
  • Participate in articulating the departmental needs as a key stakeholder in the delivery of the Bank's Future State architectures and the associated Target Operating Model around it, to ensure that appropriate controls are implemented and the integrity of the underlying data production
  • Support various new initiatives related to data governance and control, and support, establish necessary data governance practices
  • Support definition and implementation of a global Counterparty Credit Risk Data RVQ team
  • Achieve consistent standards and approaches for the same processes across different geographies
  • Escalation point for BAU issues encountered by the GMMO RVQ offshore team
  • Control and monitor new work being offshored to the GSC, vis à vis suitability, fungibility, and consistency
  • Coordinate and conduct analysis related to system and data issues which require more specialist knowledge than exists in the offshore team
  • Recruitment, management and development of global team focused on Data Integrity and Data Quality
  • Proactive review and remediation of exception reports produced by the main TCR risk calculation engines, such as GRACE and RAVEN.
  • Involvement in UAT testing for GMMO and stakeholder projects.
  • Assist the team in process reengineering by leveraging technical ability to build macros, queries, and EUCs


Qualifications
Requirements
  • Prior Middle Office, Risk or Finance experience from a Tier One bank preferred, but not essential
  • Data management and data governance experience advantageous
  • Capacity to write SQLs and develop tools or MI with VBA languages, Access and Excel preferable
  • Strong understanding of the investment banking business and products.
  • Knowledge of front to back processes within an Investment or Capital Markets environment is essential
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a challenging and demanding environment.
  • Relevant experience of dealing with Front Office, Middle Office and Back Office stakeholders, preferably from a trading floor environment,
