•Instinet’s Global Trading Research (GTR) division is responsible for providing the firm’s algorithmic trading and quantitative analysis platforms. We are looking to hire an experienced developer to join the algo trading development team in Hong Kong.
•The successful candidate will be involved in the day-to-day development of the “Experts” trading platform which provides a suite of execution algorithms to Instinet’s clients.
•As well as focusing on our production deliveries we continue to make significant investments in our software development methodology, tooling and next generation platforms. The successful candidate will work closely with other regional development teams in USA and UK to further build out these key areas.
•We often work closely with our clients to build out bespoke trading algorithms and automation solutions, integrating buy-side experience with our internal execution expertise. The successful candidate will be expected to effectively balance their time between working on our core algo platform and client specific requirements.
You will also:
•Deliver new functionality and bug fixes on the Experts trading platform
•Provide and support bespoke solutions for key algorithmic trading clients through custom algos and trade automation
•Interface with our applied quant research group where necessary to deliver unique insight and signals into the trading platform
•Be second line support for the Asian algorithmic trading platform working in close collaboration with the GTR Operations group
•Have the ability to own and deliver projects from inception to production, from abstract requirements to concrete high quality deliveries
Key Experience & Skills
•Minimum a degree in Computer Science, a similar field or equivalent working experience
•At least 5 years proven track record of delivering high quality software to production
•Must have experience with some front office real-time trading systems e.g. Order/Execution Management System or gateway connectivity or Market data & analytics
•Deep and broad knowledge of the Java programming language and ecosystem, including; concurrency, Java 8, dependency injection, and unit test best practices
•Core Java front office development on real-time trading systems experience will be considered without algo experience
•C# or C++ candidates will also be considered but must have algo development experience (C# or C++ languages as standalone without algo development experience will not be considered)
•Interest in and ability to learn new programming languages, tools and techniques
•Exposure to distributed systems and message oriented architectures
•Proficiency in Windows and Linux operating systems
•Exposure to and familiarity with basic statistical techniques
•Proven abilities to mind, manage and process large structured and unstructured data sets,
•Ability to apply machine learning to unfamiliar problems and experience of utilising "Big Data" technologies is desirable
•Experience and knowledge of equities market microstructure and algorithmic strategies a clear advantage.
•Excellent communication and presentation skills with excellent command of the English language,
•Strong team player with a willingness to both teach others and learn new approaches, and ability to mentor other team members
•Proven ability to collaborate and succeed in a global team a plus.
•Ability to produce well thought out, peer reviewed and thoroughly tested code
