Our client is one of the leading fast growing banking corporations. Owing to rapid growth and expansion, they are looking for a Head of Legal and Compliance to head up all of their Asia Pacific compliance functions.

Description

  • Report to Deputy CEO and Lead the Compliance Teams to oversee the full compliance function
  • Oversee and monitor all the Compliance functions (AML, Regulatory Compliance, Compliance Monitoring and testing, legal) in Hong Kong and overseas branches
  • Lead the teams to provide full range of compliance advisory and support to various business units; monitor all licensing and registration matters
  • Provide and participate in compliance training on compliance and regulatory matters
  • Supervise the Team Heads to maintain and update the applicable laws and regulations and drive the appropriate corresponding changes in policies and procedures for the compliance purpose
  • Fully responsible for relevant compliance reporting to regulators and regulatory compliance
  • Supervise a small team of legal counsels

Profile

This is a position which requires Strong leadership and projects management skills, coupled with good interpersonal and presentational skills. You will also be a good team player and an excellent leader who innovates and looks for new solutions to existing problems.

Education & Experience

  • Degree in Business / Finance / Accounting or any other related discipline
  • Minimum 10-15 years of relevant experience in banking industry
  • Deep understanding on HKMA guidelines, Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (PDPO), Code of Banking Practice, Companies Ordinance and broad product knowledge;

Skills & Abilities

  • Good leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong problem solving and negotiation skills, plus ability to work under pressure
  • Proficiency in both English and Chinese, fluency in Putonghua an advantage
  • Great sense of ownership and servicing mindset to ensure efficient and effective customer service processes
