Director, Credit Portfolio Senior Officer, Private Bank
The Credit Portfolio Senior Officer II is a senior-level position responsible for leading activities including credit review, credit approvals and monitoring the portfolio to identify credit migration in coordination with the CPB Risk Management team. The Risk Manager works in parallel with the Citi Private Bank (CPB) Bankers and Investment Finance (IF) Transactors and Specialists. Working in conjunction with these partners we are able to make informed risk decisions through an in-depth understanding of the credit, structure, and profitability features of each CPB client relationship. Transactions typically include margin securities backed financing, commercial real estate, residential real estate, private equity capital call financing, aircraft financing, and capital markets trading.   

Responsibilities:
  • As an Independent Risk Manager with a delegated approval limit, review and approve credit facilities.
  • Manage impact of credit, market, franchise and operational risks on IF and Capital Markets transactions.
  • Facilitate product risk decisions by participating in the approval, structuring, suitability/appropriateness analysis and the monitoring of traded products and complex derivatives transactions.
  • Interface with the Investments, IF, and Global Risk Management on derivatives products: advise on complex structures; engage where necessary in legal negotiations; track higher risk exposures and support Bankers/IF Specialists in managing capital markets exposure.
  • Facilitate IF and Investments Product Programs and actively participate in ongoing portfolio reviews.
  • Identify and execute risk mitigation opportunities, reduce risks and concentration and to improve returns/capital allocation.
  • Manage credit exposures within the portfolio, including stress testing and early problem recognition.
  • Work with the CPB Remedial Management Team on remedial management actions.
  • Provide specific Risk inputs and assist in the structuring of credit transactions as required by partners in the product groups and geographies.
  • Assess risk/return trade-offs associated with transactions, products and client relationships.
  • Review and approve initial/annual/interim credit reviews of new and existing facilities.
  • Represent CPB Risk on the Hong Kong Risk Management Country Forum
Qualifications:
  • Preferably a Senior Credit Officer (SCO)
  • At least 10 years of relevant credit/lending experience with a broad exposure to various products.
  • Knowledge of various capital markets and derivatives products/structures, and associated documentation.
  • Knowledge of asset classes such as Real Estate, Equities, Fixed Income, etc.
  • Sensitivity to macro and regulatory issues and their impact from a risk management perspective.
  • Proficient in anticipating strategic portfolio risk tolerances that may result from changes in business and/or socio-political/macro-economic developments.
  • Proficient in stress testing and developing associated mitigation strategies.
  • Solid early problem recognition skills - the ability to identify and clearly communicate deterioration in portfolio/credit quality and anticipate potential loss.   
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience
  • Master's degree preferred
