Position Description

The Prime Brokerage Risk team sits within the Global Markets Risk Management organization. It is an independent second line risk function that is responsible for overseeing the business activities across Asset Management Services, which includes Equity and FICC Prime Brokerage, Synthetic Prime Brokerage, Listed Derivatives and OTC Clearing. As a result of a recent restructuring across Risk, an opportunity has arisen for a Senior Risk Manager to join the team in Asia leading the regional second line function whilst working closely with the global team on strategic projects and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing second line risk oversight for business activities and risks arising in the APAC region
  • Ensuring the risk framework and associated procedures are implemented and followed and that issues are swiftly identified and resolved or escalated as necessary
  • Risk assessment and approval as required for new or material changes to margin financing and clearing arrangements
  • Running stress testing and VaR analysis of client portfolios and providing oversight of limit utilisations where relevant
  • Working closely with the first line Risk function and business to understand and evaluate existing and evolving risks and challenging where appropriate
  • Developing strong relationships with key stakeholders across senior business management, origination and the various risk and credit functions
  • Partnering closely with the credit functions where client accounts are underwritten
  • Understanding changes to market structure, regulation and best practice across the APAC region
  • Actively involved in the global effort to enhance stress testing capabilities, risk tools and analytics
  • Active participant in the risk management forums, bringing and leading the APAC agenda

Key Requirements
  • Senior risk manager able to apply risk and control disciplines in an effective manner
  • Technical understanding of the quantitative and qualitative risks impacting financing and clearing businesses is highly desirable
  • Cross asset product knowledge including derivatives valuation and risk modelling
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Intellectually curious and able to execute sound judgement to appropriately characterise and represent risk issues
  • Structured yet flexible approach, balanced and fair, able to make difficult decisions where necessary
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, proven experience of collaborating and leveraging relationships
  • Ability to work independently but also able to contribute to team efforts globally and across the regional teams
