What you will do in this role:

  • Team building - you will be able to propose your own team structure and build that proposed team over time
  • Team management - be a good career coach and mentor, help engineers grow to be tech leads, and guiding all others towards success
  • Able to work with large data sets and come up with efficient and elegant solutions to software engineering challenges. Some examples of some of the technical challenges to be solved will be relevancy and prediction algorithms
  • Help design and refine a scalable engineering culture to accommodate this growth
  • Assemble and lead a team of expert software developers  
  • Lead technical architecture, and recommend the ideal technology stack for the system and lead all technical architecture decisions
  • Leading the development process and communication flow between development team and rest of the organisation
  • Setting the culture and processes for the team
  • Take input on feature requests, plan and lead the technical execution
  • Office management and administration

 

The ideal person will have the following experience and bring: 

  • Minimum 4 years as a software developer or engineer
  • Minimum 2 years of prior management experience, leading a development team
  • Have built products in a customer focused, agile environment
  • Strong expertise in software development practice (e.g. agile project management, change management
  • Someone that thinks about the product before the code, and thinks about the value the product it is creating and knows how to effectively lead developers 
  • A strong leader and great communicator, with a welcoming and supportive personality
