My client a leading global bank is looking to recruit an experienced Financial Crime Compliance Risk Advisory, Monitoring or Surveillance professional to join its compliance team in Hong Kong.

The Financial Crime Risk Manager will be responsible for assessing the extent of the implementation of the Financial Crime Risk policies and frameworks and will provide leadership, support and guidance to the Chief Risk Officer and First Line of Defence Risk teams. The incumbent will act as a subject matter expert in Financial Crime Compliance, with a particular focus on Sanctions, and will provide expertise of the regulatory environment the bank operates in, contributing to and supporting leadership in the development and implementation of meaningful, timely reporting, coordinating financial crime reporting and regional initiatives and supporting regulatory change activity and projects. The jobholder will perform independent validation and oversight of internal remediation, major events and incidents, identifying key risks and advising on controls to minimise such risks. The Financial Crime Risk Manager will contribute broad and deep technical knowledge to strategic long term development of a sustainable enterprise wide enhanced financial crime risk management framework ensuring that the bank is in the best position to fully comply with its legal and regulatory obligations and in respect of the banks financial crime obligations and risk management activities generally. The incumbent will provide consultancy and advisory services to all regions/divisions/units in risk management to enable them to identify risks and successfully implement programs to manage unacceptable risk. The jobholder will monitor, review and report to the risk management committee performance and practice throughout the region to identify and tackle areas of improvement and to meet the banks policies and standards for its employees including integrity, ethics and equity requirements.

The successful candidate will be a degree holder with at least 5 years’ experience gained in a Financial Crime Risk Advisory, Monitoring or Surveillance role at a leading international bank.  The ideal candidate will have significant Sanctions knowledge and experience. Candidates from Financial Crime Testing/Assurance/Audit roles may be considered as will Risk Management professionals with a solid knowledge and understanding of Financial Crime Compliance laws and regulations. Candidates will need to possess excellent interpersonal, communication, relationship and stakeholder management skills.
