We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Head of Fixed Income Valuation Control Hong Kong.

Principal responsibilities

  • Management of the Fixed Income Valuation Control teams to ensure that the Balance Sheets for Hong Kong Rates and Credit businesses are appropriately valued with respect to current industry best practice and Accounting Standards.
  • B usinesses include Flow Rates, Flow Credit, Structured Rates, Credit Products Group, Cash Repo, Counterparty Exposure Management and Loans & Special Situations Group.
  • Ensure the production of the daily Primary Trading System Sourced P&L, P&L commentary and attributed P&L is performed in line with industry best practice.
  • Ensure that Independent Price Verification processes in Hong Kong are in line with industry best practice and MI is tailored appropriately for the different customers.
  • Ensure that the Valuation framework is in line with industry best practice, FIM and is clearly explained
  • Ensure all Model Limitations are appropriately dealt with for both new products and existing products as market condition change.
  • Ensure that all output is produced by the team in a timely and accurate manner, is fully reviewed before publication and is completed to the level of industry best practice.
  • Manage a continuous improvement programme for all activities including increasing efficiency and controls through procedures/systems change process.
  • Delivery of key change programs relevant to Product Control and the business.
  • Work with Business Financial Control to deliver a single view of the P&L and Balance Sheet. Presentation of the business view of the Balance Sheet to traders and trading management.
  • Ensure that appropriate Management Information is produced for the tracking of results, workload and exceptions.
  • Ensure that the team is adequately resourced and managed and all team members receive appropriate training and mentoring.
  • Act as Relationship Manager with key stakeholders including other Product Control Functions, IT, Operations, Front Office, Group Finance, Market Risk Management and Credit Risk Management.


Qualifications
Requirements
  • University degree
  • Accounting qualification preferred
  • Product knowledge and valuation techniques/challenges within Rates and Credit markets businesses is essential
  • Previous management experience within Product Control, Finance, Markets or Risk is essential
  • Proven leadership experience, with in depth people management and development skills
  • Strong Analytical skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills, ability to influence decisions and work to tight deadlines
  • Good understanding of Financial Markets, risks and changing regulatory environment (products traded, associated risks (including the greeks) and their life cycle, accounting principles, valuation techniques, Volcker, MRUD, IFRS9)
