Global Internal Audit provides independent, objective assurance to management and the risk and audit committees as to whether the framework of risk management, control, and governance processes, as designed and represented by management, is adequate and functioning.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as Innovation Projects Manager.

Principal responsibilities

  • The primary responsibility of the Innovation Projects Manager is successful execution and should be able to demonstrate a proven track record of innovative solution delivery that is pragmatic and heuristic
  • Partnering effectively through collaboration with HSBC's Innovation teams, Telecommunication, Global Businesses and Global Functions to ensure the successful delivery of an enhanced and proactive 3 rd Line partnership with our stakeholders.
  • Data science in an audit context Data ingestion. Design and construction of machine learning models such as regression and clustering. Confrontation of data to models and data conformance. Design and support implementation of analytical procedures. Specification of techniques for identification and analysis of data anomalies. Successful transfer of technical solutions at scale globally across Global Internal Audit.
  • Technology and engineering in an audit context such as delivery in conjunction with internal and external partners of the technology, engineering and infrastructure required to realize Asia Pacific Internal Audit's innovation strategy, including hands on execution and leadership re architecture, design, optimal configuration, systems, infrastructure, access, tooling, testing and implementation.
  • Helping to build, followed by day to day management of a small regional team of highly motivated, diverse and committed professionals, incorporating successfully within a small team a broad range of specialist skills from data scientists, to engineers, to architects, to auditors, and potentially beyond as well as providing inspiration, clear direction, and support to the team.
  • Helping to successfully attract professionals from a diverse background commensurate with the skills required to successful deliver innovation, many of whom might not normally consider audit a natural home. Creating an environment in which the team thrives and successfully co exists.

Qualifications
Requirements
  • Quantitative PhD, banking experience an advantage.
  • Ability to innovate, demonstrated by past experience either within a business such as algorithmic trading, structured products, or exotic derivatives, for example, platforms such as on line exchanges and market places, for example or technology such as digital and mobile, for example
  • A mindset that naturally emphasizes execution and delivery.
  • Prima facie credibility and the ability to attract and retain strong resources, specifically appropriately qualified and experienced data scientists, technical engineers, and developers, into an audit context with which they may not be experienced.
  • Credentials re partnering effectively internally and externally to provide solutions.
  • Commercial discipline, with an ability to deliver real dollar value.
  • Good knowledge and experience of risk management and strong risk culture not limited to a banking environment, though banking would be preferable
  • Track record of managing complex transformation programs regionally, on time, and within budget across multiple diverse businesses.
  • Ability to understand complex issues, manage conflict and provide pragmatic solutions.
  • Ability to manage complex business and stakeholder relationships in a diverse business and cultural setting.
  • High standards of professional and personal integrity.
  • Good written and verbal articulation skills
  • Willingness to travel regionally.
