We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as KYC Operations GBM Hong Kong Country Head.

Principal responsibilities

  • Manage the relevant operational KYC processes to ensure day to day activities are in full compliance with HSBC guidelines, whilst improving operational efficiency and reducing risks
  • Ensure proper and effective governance of tasks and processes with reference to internal policy and external regulation
  • Ensure the APAC Head of GBM KYC Operations is kept fully informed of the HK progress and escalating issues where appropriate
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with senior stakeholders in the business, Client Operations and FCC
  • Have a proactive approach to issues with the business and multiple stakeholders to help find solutions
  • Provide and enhance a timely and quality assured service to meet global financial crime, regulatory and risk management objectives in line with global standards
  • Develop a team that is dedicated to the delivery of outstanding customer service and driven to achieve exceptional customer satisfaction
  • Contribute operational considerations to change initiatives and projects
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, strengthening operational disciplines and controls, and bringing efficiencies without detriment to quality
  • Participate in the continued development of dashboards and MI to ensure resources are correctly allocated, capacity issues identified and managed, and stakeholders provided with meaningful MI
  • Work collaboratively and communicate persuasively, emphasising teamwork, diversity and knowledge sharing within HSBC
  • Provide HK KYC Ops representation at the appropriate CDD Governance forums, risk committees and management meetings
  • Manage ad hoc remediation projects as required
  • Where issues or errors arise, ensure the root cause is fully understood and remediating actions are implemented and documented as soon as possible
  • Continuously reassess the operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructurings, and the impact of new technology. Raise issues on Helios, MSIIs as appropriate and ensure MAPs, actions are completed by Target Completion Dates.
  • Ensure all audit or Skilled Person Review findings are closed out in a timely manner
  • Contribute to the development of globally consistent process and practices leveraging existing group capabilities
  • Identify areas for improvement and enhancements to drive efficiencies and savings
  • Ensure workload is actively monitored, balanced and forecast over a rolling 12 month period
  • Manage the New Business and Periodic Reviews book of work within KRIs for timeliness and quality
  • Develop the operations function with a focus on improving the customer experience with improved operational effectiveness
  • Actively manage and drive any recruitment, interview process, ensuring candidates are well suited to the KYC Ops culture and function demands

  • Proven experience in identifying and managing the risks, issues and dependencies related to complex programs
  • Experience of managing large operational teams
  • Ability to build relationships by communicating, influencing and negotiating effectively with business heads, senior managers, stakeholders and technical experts across the whole department and business users
  • Proven ability to prioritize competing demands
  • Exceptional organizational, planning and management skills
  • Proven business and operational experience
  • Able to articulate a challenging strategic vision and motivate people to achieve this
  • Proven track record that can be demonstrated in delivering multi work stream, cross organizational and geographical business and IT change within the Securities industry
  • Experience in risk management field, and proven ability to support the development of the business activities while robustly applying risk management disciplines and controls.
  • Good knowledge of regulatory trends and developments
  • AML qualification and or post graduate Compliance degree is an advantage
  • While KYC and AML experience is preferred it is not necessarily required.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Planning, time management and resource management skills
  • Experience of working in a highly matrixed environment, and accustomed to bridging the gap between disparate organizations and cultures
